Isnโt it wild that a few years ago people were still sort of debating over TypeScript adoption, and now weโre like โhmm should I give my autonomous coding robot full permissions to my machine, or make it do PRs in the cloud that I have another robot read?โ
if you believe in any form of free enterprise at all, the idea that the Pentagon can not only cut off your contract but designate you a supply chain risk and prevent other companies from buying from you just because you won't build killbots for the government should be terrifying
So who is gonna be the one to tell Pete Hegseth how many massive American companies are investors in Anthropic?

You can take the boy out of the Naugatuck River Valley, but he will return to the Naugatuck River Valley
The idea that coding agents prove "learn to code was a mistake" is kind of analogous to thinking the printing press meant "psych! y'all wasted a lot of time learning how to write."
Computational thinking is getting easier to pick up, and also providing more leverage than before.
Weโre gonna want new modalities of configuring and paying for services. Iโm tired of making tokens and giving them to Claude. So I made a static web host that treats LLMs as the primary interface. LLM requests a token, you pay with a Stripe link, LLM can use token to do stuff.

Yeah I tried containers but I just really like that I can walk over to the MacBook and unblock Claude when needed. Like a real coworker. Also useful for mobile build tooling like Xcode.
It's scary how much it'll do on its own, so I would not recommend this on a machine that can do any kind of damage to your wallet or privacy.
Also useful for building phone apps. Claude can drive emulators/simulators, and build from Xcode, etc. as needed.
At this point, I'm loving ssh'ing into the clean machine, and then let Claude do what it needs. It sets up its own dev environments, manages its own GitHub user, and runs for much longer sessions than I can ever get it to do on my daily driver machine. Been pretty enjoyable!
I've been running Claude with `--dangerously-skip-permissions` on an old Macbook I wiped and it's so nice. When I *do* run Claude on my real machine I find it so jarring how much it needs from me (rightfully so) to run commands.

I think the original thesis is like โbusinesses will use gen AI to shore up their bottom lineโ. Some will, but not an extinction level event. The real value is using gen AI to drive top line revenue through more offerings and value to customers. Chasing cost savings is a distraction, IMO.
Selling off Workday is absurd. Tech industry is about to explode with work to be done and the need for people to do it alongside AI. Iโm not gonna have Claude handle payroll. Iโm just gonna have Claude improve my developers so they can be more productive and improve top line revenue.
Doesnโt make sense for me to sell off on Salesforce or SAP. Itโs not like people buy those products cause theyโre good software lol. People hate the product. They buy because of the business relationship.
Claude can build me a Dropbox in a weekend. But it canโt offer my company an acceptable SLA. Businesses will still buy from other businesses. Theyโre gonna generate small tools, not the kind of software that gets traded publicly.
I think the sell off is overly bearish - the thesis is that generative AI will make traditional SaaS obsolete because customers will generate their own in house solutions. But the thesis fails to account for the real value of the software: maintenance, trust, compliance.
Yeah but the sell off happened outside of AI - so like, Iโd honestly just buy some of the more traditional SaaS because I think theyโre less disrupts or than the market is showing.
Really wanna buy the software dipโฆ lots of analysts who donโt understand the limitation of AI. Thereโs alpha to be had lol.

Yeah, like I actually do use LLMs to create custom tailored learning materials (opus is finally good enough at reading OSS source to be helpful). Iโm OK with AI as education.
But I subscribe judiciously. Iโm only looking for human insights.
