They could have at least mock fought this, and then do this same step after a week or so.
Basically try to go for any kind of compromise.
Instead they preemptively just gave up.
Plenty of people whose games have been completely removed have relied on them, too.
It's not like they'd immediately lose all payment processors - in fact they seemingly didn't even really stand behind their stance that they're already doing a good enough job.
They just preemptively caved in.
They still absolutely should have fought this. They should dare MC to drop them, and then when people can't buy games tell them exactly why and to go complain to their banks.
Ideally while also calling out to any other payment facilitator who wants to earn a few extra billions...
