What if the "Pursuit of Happiness" wasn't vague Enlightenment poetryβ€”but a specific, concrete mandate for economic security?

What if the Founders were more radical than either party wants to admit?

I spent months in the primary sources. Here's what I found.

Capitalism vs Socialism is a false choice invented after the Founders died. Jefferson never said capitalism. Adams never said socialism. They said General Welfare. Ease, Comfort, Security - in a word Happiness, to the greatest number. Stop fighting over their labels. Demand their outcomes.

The 'Pursuit of Happiness' in the Declaration has a definition. John Adams wrote it in 1776: ease, comfort, and security. You were never taught that. Ask yourself why.

In October of 1785 Jefferson wrote Madison that enormous inequality produces misery, and proposed exempting the poor from taxation while taxing higher wealth in geometrical progression as it rises. That's not socialism. That's Jefferson. In a letter. To Madison. Look it up.

Thomas Jefferson to James Madison
October 28th 1785. Exempt the poor from taxation entirely. Tax the wealthy progressively as wealth rises. His words. His idea. His Republic. Next time someone calls progressive taxation socialism β€” remind them which Founding Father proposed it.

β€œan enormous Proportion of Property vested in a few individuals is dangerous to the Rights, and destructive of the Common Happiness, of Mankind" - proposal submitted by Benjamin Franklin to be enshrined in the first Pennsylvania Constitution in 1776.

Liberty without Security is just the freedom to starve in the cold.
Security without Liberty is mere subsistence - the life of a well-fed prisoner.

Hamilton wanted the luxury of the rich to fund the public treasury. Instead we invented "buy, borrow, die" β€” a system where the ultra-wealthy pay nothing and leave the debt to us. He'd have called it what it is. Theft.

Concentrated wealth redefined the 'Pursuit of Happiness' as rugged individualism. John Adams meant ease, comfort, and security for every citizen. The rewrite wasn't accidental. It was profitable.

We didn’t fire a king to crown another. We the people are still the only legitimate source of power in this Republic, and it’s past time we started acting like it.

I used to sit in militia meetings. I marched with the Patriot movement. I voted for Pat Buchanan. Then I re-read what the Founders had said. What I found changed everything.

Any political party spreading lies about voter fraud as a pretext to make it harder for every one to vote is sending a clear message: they can't win on their ideas alone.

Remember this.

Richard Allen. Absalom Jones. Prince Hall. Benjamin Banneker. James Forten.

They fought, built churches, founded schools, and demanded "all men are created equal" mean ALL.

They were Founders. Period.
