Borrowing a tradition from our friends at @breathingxspace.bsky.social, for every like and repost this gets, we'll share a fun fact from behind the scenes of season 1!
Defense secretary openly states that a pro-Trump billionaire taking over a news network (following regulatory help from the administration) will result in coverage more favorable for the administration.
1) in what TTRPG system can I play a motorcycle-riding, fire-magic-wielding mysterious stranger in black inspired by Orville Peck's Midnight Ride and Lady Gaga's Abracadabra
2) who's running that game for me
The problem here is assuming broadcast TV and the monoculture still exist. The average American just isn’t getting their entertainment from broadcast TV now!
In 2006-2007, 30 Rock averaged 5.8 million viewers per episode- back then, that was outside the top 100, but now it’d be 6th place!
Fuckin LOBELIA
So I'm reading the Lord of the Rings for the first time since middle school and right now about 10 pages in to chapter one, my primary takeaway is that more obscenely rich people should be like Bilbo
Femme-fronted hyperpop sea shanty cover. I do the mixed percussion.
Floral Orcas is my new band name
Yeah totally, we're also working in a setting with Real Politics instead of nonsense fantasy politics lmao
And then doing worldbuilding is hard every time you go somewhere cause I have to invent a whole planet's history every time and that's uhhhh fuckin hard and y'all are only gonna get to see a sliver of it lol
Yeah I think this pretty much aligns with my thoughts. I think I expected to be able to come up with reasons to have NPCs reappear more frequently than I've managed to actually achieve, and I didn't consider how much having a small crew would impact that too
I think next time I run a TTRPG / build a world, I want to try to go deep instead of wide. In my current campaign I keep feeling like I'm only skimming the surface of lots of different places, and it isn't satisfying. I want instead to try a single primary location that's more layered and complex.
Iran’s people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.
I can't believe the Armageddon military commanders story has gone viral based on one person's claims to have received complaints from servicemembers. That's it! That's all we know. Yet somehow it's gone viral and now Democrats are seeking a Pentagon IG investigation
Bernard LaFayette, the advance man who did the risky groundwork for the voter registration campaign in Selma, Alabama, that culminated in the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, has died.
You love to see it: Cunningham cast a pivotal pro-ICE vote and the other two voted to override the governor's veto of anti-trans legislation; they got wrecked tonight, they can all go get fucked forever
JUST IN: North Carolina's Dem lawmaker Carla Cunningham gave the GOP the decisive vote to pass a law forcing police to comply with ICE. She said "all cultures are not equal."
She just lost reelection BIG in the Dem primary to a progressive pastor & activist, Rodney Sadler. 70% to 22%!
Context:
There's been a lot of debate within the Democratic establishment about what rhetoric to use via ICE.
Well, an incumbent doesn't lose by 48 percentage points very often—and her vote on collaborating with ICE was the defining issue here.
ICE (immigration customs enforcement) funding? no
ACE (arts, culture, and entertainment) funding? yes
I think All The Time about Robert Reich pointing out that we don't have a federal department of arts / culture, despite cultural entertainment being equally economically important as agriculture and transportation and stuff
I 100% believe it
The Ides of March are coming up soon and I just think that's neat
I've said it before and it always applies: every "X is just a distraction" is a huge tell of what parts of society that people are okay with having to suffer Because the distractions somehow always ends up being things they don't care about.
Oh my god you look like you were born to wear skates wtf
I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves. Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone. That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins. If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after. Sahar Delijani, Iranian author
I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.
I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.
Sahar Delijani said it best:
A reminder that there are more Christian Zionists in the United States than Jews, Zionist and otherwise
