Moana, the Marquesan artist, listened to theirs stories, then he freehand drew the tattoo, with symbols (e.g. a turtle for their equatorial crossing) representing what they’d shared with him, onto their skin before applying the ink.

Calypso Chronicles: TBG's Nica was in the Ahe atoll for the Challenge Vahitu. This Polynesian tournament includes a coconut processing competition. It took the teams 11-12 min to process 30 coconuts, compared to the 15 min it took Nica to process her first coconut.
