I'm reading poetry subs at Strange Horizons this month. You can submit up to 6 speculative poems in a single file or separate files. I recommend separate files, because we allow simultaneous submissions and it's easier to withdraw individual poems. Guidelines: strangehorizons.com/submit/poetr...
If you know anyone who's ever come to the UK to live alongside you, and you'd either miss them if they were gone, or at the very least reckon they deserve to be treated humanely, please put aside some time to fill this in.
Today is the last day to respond to this govt consultation. It takes a little while to complete but Praxis has provided a very helpful guide. Please do this. These proposals are so cruel and punitive, we must try and stop them

Man I'm so goddamn sick of ai. "Wahhh you can't have a reasonable conversation about ai on here," yeah maybe be mad about the two year parade of scam artists and financial charlatans and environmental ruiners who have radicalized everyone against the spell check that agrees with you

I also feel perpetually 28, what's up with that
I literally said to someone today, "god it's been a week and a half, and it's only Tuesday" ๐ซ
Ooh I like this, it's very nice and clear! And makes sense to me both for pronunciation and spelling.

More details in the thread! ๐งต (1/6)
This, 100%. And also, poring over a girl's texts and video messages to parse whether or not the unexpected sexual experience she had the night before were consensual is just.... a choice
It's the roundabout stuff about Johnson and the TERFs (world's worst band name, lol) that gets me personally, mixed in with the really weird microanalysis of victims' texts and whether or not they consented ๐คฎ
Oh there's way more than 3 articles
I wonder. I've been reading that blog all afternoon (which then led me to its subreddit) and dude seems to have wayyy too much time on his hands
Apropos of nothing at all, y'all should read this.
I have gone down a rabbit hole based on stuff mentioned in that post and it is truly a never ending spiral of nonsense
I also have ADHD, so... this tracks. I often cite the list of irregular verbs I had to memorise as a kid (anything that doesn't use -ed for past tense) as a source of frustration because of how many people say "learned" now ๐คฆโโ๏ธ Why did I have to do all that if I could just wing it anyway??
And to be fair, my own accent is a hodge-podge of influences, mostly American but with the odd British-ism here and there because of living in London for half my life, so I'm very often confused by different words and sounds, and my ESL ass is anxious like, "what is the RULE?? is this correct??"
Maybe I'm the one mispronouncing it then whoops ๐

Well, sounds like double S is common enough in UK English that you could, in theory, adopt it ๐ (and drive me mad whenever I read your blog, lmao)
It's infinitesimal to be fair, but oh boy, it grates on me ๐
Interesting! I wouldn't have considered 'excusing' a rhyming possibility for 'focusing' at all, as the parent word doesn't rhyme.
