It’s not an opinion! They’re using that as a selling point and some of them are saying it’s already here! I just think you don’t want to cede my argument any ground, because all of these thingsβ€”AGI, AI psychosis, manipulative marketingβ€”are obviously connected and part of my point. You just disagree

06.03.2026 14:53 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

That is the kind of manipulative marketing that AI companies routinely engage in to hook people into thinking the technology can dramatically improve their lives by taking over their responsibilities their creativity, their connections with others, etc, which obviously encourages unhealthy thinking

06.03.2026 14:51 πŸ‘ 21 πŸ” 2 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

Had the ad just showed the AI making a spreadsheet that would be one thing, but that’s not what the ad showed. The ad showed the AI user literally leaving the office because it could do their job for them.

06.03.2026 14:49 πŸ‘ 16 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

That’s just an example of an AI company overpromising what the technology could doβ€”literally, in their own words, give you the day off because it can perform all the functions of your job. There are other links ITT regarding companies treating AI like a form of godlike super intelligence

06.03.2026 14:48 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

They THINK they are reaching that level of insight. This is particularly the pattern you see from people engaged in some form of AI psychosis, but I’d argue that in general it’s a slippery slope between trusting that AI can actually inform your whole life and viewing it as a godlike figure

06.03.2026 14:46 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

But when you tell people stuff like this is coming or already here, as some of these companies are still doing, then you encourage delusional thinking and tech illiteracyβ€”OpenAI has publicly disclosed their suspected rates of ChatGPT psychosis and even their estimates have staggering implication

AGI was tech’s holy grail. Now, even its biggest champions are hedging. What gives? | Fortune Leaders of OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, and others are shunning a term they happily hyped a year ago.

It’s a fantasy. They sold people on the idea of it and then backtracked because it’s not real and imo fundamentally impossible. It’s like promising time travel is on the horizon

One literally said AI could do your entire job for you so you could take the day off instead.

06.03.2026 14:29 πŸ‘ 6 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Are you familiar with the concept of AGI lol

06.03.2026 14:29 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

If you caught the Super Bowl this year you’d see that across several of the top AI companies’ ads.

06.03.2026 14:28 πŸ‘ 5 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Hmmm no I think there’s pretty strong, consistent evidence that the AI industry oversells the technology’s capabilities to a gullible public that now uses AI throughout the day for all manner of tasks.

06.03.2026 14:27 πŸ‘ 10 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

That’s so dark.

06.03.2026 14:25 πŸ‘ 15 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 1

Yes!

06.03.2026 14:24 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Which part?

06.03.2026 14:23 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

They fund it in Gaza. They're doing it to Venezuelan fisherman. They're doing it in Iran. They're doing it in the streets and in concentration camps to immigrants in the US. They've done it to US citizen protestors on the streets in Minnesota.

There are no limits to what they are capable of.

06.03.2026 13:31 πŸ‘ 564 πŸ” 148 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 1

They want to believe. It’s exciting to imagine you have an unbiased source of all knowledge, including insights into your own private life

06.03.2026 14:08 πŸ‘ 7 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

That is almost certainly happening as we speak

06.03.2026 14:07 πŸ‘ 10 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t think LLMs would take off without this kind of userbase, because they’re the ones talking to ChatGPT and Grok all day every day because they think they’re reaching Jesus levels of insight. This is why the technology gets called a scam, because the industry is definitely scamming these people

06.03.2026 14:06 πŸ‘ 178 πŸ” 13 πŸ’¬ 4 πŸ“Œ 1

So a lot of the hype around LLMs and a lot of the userbase just fundamentally misunderstands what the technology is and what it’s capable of, instead treating it like a mythical supernatural or religious being. The industry openly encourages this delusion for profit

06.03.2026 14:03 πŸ‘ 256 πŸ” 19 πŸ’¬ 6 πŸ“Œ 3

The thing is, a lot of LLM users actually think it’s capable of God-like intelligence, and that’s clear from the ways they interact with it publicly

06.03.2026 14:01 πŸ‘ 264 πŸ” 14 πŸ’¬ 7 πŸ“Œ 3

I love watching people use LLMs in public. They’ll reply to a breaking news article and say β€œ@grok is this true?” Babe where do you think it’s about to pull its answer from

Proton Mail Helped FBI Unmask Anonymous β€˜Stop Cop City’ Protestor A court record reviewed by 404 Media shows privacy-focused email provider Proton Mail handed over payment data related to a Stop Cop City email account to the Swiss government, which handed it to the ...

New from 404 Media: Proton Mail, the privacy-focused email service, gave authorities data that let the FBI unmask an anonymous 'Stop Cop City' protester. It was payment data linked to the anonymous email account. From that, FBI ID'd them, then tracked their movements www.404media.co/proton-mail-...

BREAKING: @aoc.bsky.social just came out swinging in the House E&C hearing against dangerous & misguided "age verification" legislation (aka online ID checks) that would force everyone to upload government ID or get a face scan before accessing content or posting online.

Video incoming. This is big

Yes, there are still leftists thereβ€”that’s not the point I’m making, the point I’m making is that anyone of any political persuasion still on X is posting into a right wing radicalization pipeline. That may not change them but it absolutely influences what they’re seeing and the feedback they get

05.03.2026 18:43 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

it’s only an echo chamber when it’s the left. when it’s the right they call it some bullshit like the Agora or the Town Square

05.03.2026 16:27 πŸ‘ 2871 πŸ” 376 πŸ’¬ 47 πŸ“Œ 10

I mean, it is odd that everyone decrying this place as an 'echo chamber' is totally comfortable hanging out on the Nazi CSAM web site run by a white supremacist who fine tuned its algorithm to turn users fascist

Yesss I think that’s a fair and accurate analysis. Out of all the platforms, I think it’s bar none the best for seeing and commenting on important news, while also keeping this in mind

I’m so sorry Rachel, but so amazed by your reporting and resilience ❀️

Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
