oh yeah the premise of the game is a literal extraction: go into the dungeon, rescue Le'garde, get back to the surface. (and then after you finally manage to do that.... well, there's more)

The world's normiest weirdo. Trending Non-Gamer of the Year 2017-2025. Yes, that's a real Emmy. No, don't blame me when PSN is down. I play Magic the Gathering but I only buy the cheap cards. まだ日本語を習っている。

* characters don't level up
* combat encounters rarely have positive expected value
* slight randomization of level layouts
* systems-based gameplay (use bear traps outside of combat; enemy steps on trap; engage enemy in combat; enemy starts the battle with no feet)
I feel like Fear and Hunger is the starting point of this, somehow.
some people just need the aura of The Real. poor bastards
RE9 comic Leon says "oh shit!" as a doctor zombie with a chainsaw and a nurse zombie approach him The doctor zombie swings the chainsaw and lobs off the nurse zombies arm, Leon goes "uhh...." Both zombies get sliced up by the chainsaw and Leon looks back at the camera Jim Halpert style

If other people's children are fair targets in war, then so are yours.
What if we made a video game, only interacting through this tool
Having spent a few hours playing Marathon, my takeaway is:
If we're going to gripe that developers and publishers should create art that is interesting and specific instead of being "for everyone", we should also have the grace to acknowledge that it's okay for something to be made for someone else
Used to play this on a LAN with ~6 players, it was glorious

A useful gesture on my OnePlus 13 was replaced by the "AI gesture" and I hate it so much
got a PC code for Marathon so I will probably be checking it out tonight. Not really a big fan of sweaty games but if folks I know are on there, I am a big fan of The Power of Teamwork
This is where I post from
Tired: thanks, I hate it!
Wired: this sucks, I love it!

A mirrored tray with art of Mighty Mouse holding a huge vial of cocaine and winking while saying “HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY”
A mirrored tray with art of Mickey Mouse saying “LAY IT OUT!”
A mirrored tray with art of Archie, Veronica, and Jughead. Veronica and Jughead are walking away while Archie says “BUT RONNIE I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO PROM” and Veronica says “SORRY ARCHIE, BUT JUGHEAD GOT THE BLOW”
A mirrored tray with an extremely off model Jiminy Cricket marching off and saying “IF THERE IS NO BLOW …… THEN I SHALL GO!”
Please enjoy this collection of vintage mirrored coke trays I found on eBay as part of an insane estate sale 12 years ago and just remembered existed
"it's good that Khameini is dead, but Trump broke the constitution and international law to do it" is another way of saying "the constitution and international law are bad and Trump is good for defying them"

I only ever got to play a couple rounds of the multiplayer mode because the servers were basically dead, but the single-player mode was maybe a 15 or 20 hour campaign? So you know wait for a sale and buy it with that expectation. heck I'll log in to try horde mode
It's more fun than Metal Gear Solid V!
If the thing you're looking for isn't "stylish glitch cubism" or "arguing with insane computers in a maze of twisty little corridors" but "single player extraction", I unironically recommend Metal Gear Survive
that's how he got so big
It's a good game, definitely worth playing imho
they had employees line up to take pictures with it in the lobby and when it was my turn I held it up and smiled and the photographer was like "you can be more interesting than that!" and here we are
as the guy who's pfp is "me holding a 100% legit, real-life actual Emmy (which my company won while I happened to be working there, with no relation to my day-to-day work)" I highly support your talk "during GDC"
