Nurses at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA are on a five‑day unfair labor practice strike starting today. Providence refused to negotiate a fair contract that guarantees safe staffing, safety from harassment, and basic benefits. #nursesky
@seiu121rn.org nurses are fighting for their patients and the health of our community.
I stand with them today and always.

Happy Labor Day from Southern California!
This Labor Day, we’re not just fighting back — we’re building forward.
A future where every patient gets the care they need and our communities come before corporate profit.

ICE raids have sown fear in our communities, carried out with militaristic posturing and without regard for civil rights.

Labor Day didn’t start as a holiday—it started with strikes. With resistance. With working people raising hell and demanding more. And in 2025, we’re doing the same.
Families First. Not Billionaires.

On Saturday @seiu.org members across 41 states, our communities and our families took to the streets to push back against Trump's budget that cuts taxes for billionaires, and cuts healthcare for the rest of us.
We're fighting to put #FamiliesFirst, and we're not backing down.
When Jacqui Rum quit her nursing job at Los Robles Regional Medical Center last fall over the heavy workload and low staffing levels, it came with a high price — a $2,000 bill from her former employer for training costs. #Nursesky

Today we rallied to put Families First — not ICE, not cages, not billionaires. We rally to defend our families, protect our neighbors, and fight for a future where ALL our families thrive.

Guillermo is in the fight to put #FamiliesFirst
We're taking to the streets to say we are ONE, and we're not going to allow healthcare cuts, and ICE raids to devastate our communities.

The Republican budget is a $4.5 TRILLION stick-up. Medicaid? Gutted. SNAP? Slashed. Schools, child care, disaster relief? Gone. But ICE? More raids. More fear. More families ripped apart.
July 26, Fight with us → seiu.co/FamFirst #FamiliesFirst #SolidaritySummer
Don't let anyone tell you safe staffing isn't possible.
They want us to be afraid. They want us divided. They want ICE to do their dirty work while billionaires get richer. But we see through it.
On July 26, we rise up to take it all back — for our families and our future.

There's no substitute for being part of a union.
We celebrate every human being's inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Those who would oppose our nation's values by slashing Medicaid and taxing the poor and middle class to fund the whims of billionaires are on the wrong side of history.

Happy #DisabilityPrideMonth!
We are all stronger together.

Unbelievable. Senate Republicans just voted to TERMINATE healthcare & SNAP for millions — all to funnel more billions to billionaires.
This vote exposes Trump’s MAGA agenda: always for billionaires—not for working families fighting for care, food, dignity.

“The budget resolution passed by Senate Republicans today is not policy – it is an assault on working people...This isn’t fiscal responsibility — it’s cruelty dressed up as governance. ” Leslie Frane, Executive Vice President, SEIU Full statement: seiu.co/4lu9CQB
If Riverside Community Hospital forces nurses to do so, they will worsen the harm that ICE has already inflicted on our communities.

Nurses take an oath to advocate for their patients. They should never be asked to identify patients or discriminate based on nationality or legal status in fulfilling that oath. The oath includes not disclosing personal medical information about patients.

To date, HCA, which is one of the largest, multi-billion-dollar hospital owners in the country, has failed to provide any training or protocols to staff on how to interact with ICE. Smaller hospitals with fewer resources have already done so.
