Quite the opposite. Japan is very strict about copyright. Much more so than the US. It's probably because of copyright law that modding isn't as kosher.

It's funny because this game is also the kind of game I would immediately pass today solely because of its Daz3D renders

This is an interesting thought experiment. Japan as a whole seems pretty hostile to changing things contrary to the creator's intent, which is the foundation of modding culture: to play it how you want.

Growing up, I completely missed out on every Sony console. I never played any PlayStation games, so I have no nostalgia for any of them.

I also never played any Blizzard games either. Just never had interest in them.

A more interesting list would be a list of hentai doujinshi, though that would be a lot harder to make. They haven't shaped me the way anime/manga have, but they have affected my taste in ero.

I should note that this isn't a list of my favorite games. This is a list of games that impacted me the most. Like I didn't play Eve Online all that much, but it was a very impactful game even if it was pretty minor for me.

I've seen people doing this for manga, but anime/manga didn't affect me as much as videogames have.

Dating Arianne was probably the first adult game I played. I remember trying to find new routes. Just getting past the intro was tough enough.

They are very different games, but I became obsessed with the life sim elements of DoL. It's what led to My Naked Li(f)e which is what ultimately killed Roshtusu. I really wanted to make an exhibitionism life sim.
