Thanks Erin! Since we’re talking wildlife today, my collection Next Door has tentacled terrors and earwigs by the thousands, and Revolve includes many critters in those stories, like the lovely, meaty snails I mentioned. 🐌🐌🐌.

Oh it’s such a trope but I think the slow death of being made a meal of, no matter the critter…

I immediately think of Mexican Gothic by @silviamg.bsky.social whenever anyone mentions fungus. Brilliant book.

I spend my days working for wildlife so I adore this question! For my writing I tend toward the tentacled and I also have a great fondness for snails. Had no idea so many folks are freaked out by them.
For horror in general, crows. Super smart, super cool, friend or foe. 🐦‍⬛

Hello #horrorwriterschat I’m Kimberly Davis Basso, I write that sneaks up on you; my scariest dreams all revolve around worrying about people I love. I have also woken in a panic only to still be in a dream and woken from that with relief.

A photo of two prints of ink drawings by @warpsol - a robot with a plant and what looks like a paper bag for a head but it’s metal, and a robot won’t s cup of coffee. Both are gazing at these objects, and I love how mechanical they are with all kinds of bits and bobs and somehow, they look curious.

Prints are a great way to support human artists- I was able to get a few from @warpsol.bsky.social and I love them- Coffee Bot and Plant Bot are the only bots I’m interested in!

So I am delayed, even as the host: I had to read to 8 and then to 11! Thank goodness for the new draft posts that I set up earlier on.
So, hi, I'm Eryn, and I mostly write supernatural and psychological horror. I like to look at the edges of wrongness.

At the risk of repeating my last answer, my research requires reading a lot of horrific stuff and I have to take breaks because it is frankly too much.

I have a novel length story that weaves many things happening right now and as happens when I am writing very close to reality I have to take breaks, because my research makes me sick.

Greetings #HorrorWritersChat

I'm Mary from Greater Manchester (UK), where I write cosmic, gothic, and Weird horror with themes of transformation, sacrifice, revenge, and acceptance.

I'm drawn to these subgenres because they allow me to explore my themes in deeper, stranger ways.
Plus: tentacles.

Hi there #HorrorWritersChat! I’m A.C. and I write a wide variety of horror. I love it all so much, I try not to limit myself to one subgenre or anything. I think that’s one of the things that draws me to horror: the creativity and flexibility of horror. Also the escapism.
