thank you!
thank you!
Just bought this! Sounds cool, and goes to the best of causes! Check it out!
I know it's a lot of promo today, but:
1) it's bandcamp friday, when artists get max $ from the platform
2) that money isn't going to me; the album is a rent relief fundraiser
3) the EP opens with a clip from an Octavia Butler interview that flows into one of the best 24 bar verses I've written:
π this is so disorienting
One serious thought. Beyond the title, this specific song is one of the most cathartic and angry and hopeful things I've written (I even say swears in it, a rare treat). I hope it can be useful to others, or at LEAST that the goofy title gets attention for the fundraiser.
My mistake - they were BOTH were teenagers, both citizens.
"There is no neutral here. There is a community who is making demands, and thereβs a Trump administration who is trying to use corporations to do its bidding. They have a decision to make."

"And when the discourse of the powerful is evil on one side and indifference on the other, let your heart be a whistle. Loud, piercing, taking up as much space as possible, a reminder that the call is not to say something perfect; it is to make noise."
thanks so much for sharing!
[to] the god that lives in your fist
when you fight for something worth fighting for,
what more could life be for, on the brink?
eye of sauron looked right at my city;
we made it blink
(from what I shared)
Minneapolis should be modeling to other cities what it means to show up for each other. We've seen that in people-powered mutual aid work, but the city can and must take action at a larger scale. "Pause Evictions, Save Lives" is smart policy. It is also the right thing to do.
thank you!
A black and white photo of KTM/Guante (wearing a whistle and a βshut down ICEβ shirt) and SEE MORE PERSPECTIVE (wearing a poncho, beads and sunglasses) plus the text βSecret Riversβ
an album cover: graffiti-style text: "spring is coming" by secret rivers, featuring hazy artwork of a warm sun rising over greenery, with ice melting into a puddle.
New music! SECRET RIVERS is me and @seemore.bsky.social, and 100% of the proceeds from this project go to the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Twin Cities ICE Relief Fund.
It's also Bandcamp Friday, so the platform doesn't even take a cut if you get it today: secretrivers.bandcamp.com
π you're literally the first person to hear this song
"ICE presence has expanded across Minnesota, especially in the past three weeks. Funds will be distributed between metro-area and greater Minnesota rent relief."
Another rent relief effort, this one from MN organization Voices for Racial Justice:
I profiled Jason Chavez, the Minneapolis city council member who has been embedded in community efforts to combat ICE.
βTo leave your constituents to face off with a racist fascist regime on their own, without having someone that has some powerβ¦I could not let my constituents be out there alone.β
A save the date graphic featuring photos of KTM, SMP, and Kat Parent, with text: saturday, 3/7/26 (7pm ct): a virtual live performance (1) for a moment in which weβre not all able to leave our homes to go to a show; (2) for an excuse to raise money for an important MN rent relief effort; (3) for an opportunity to share some new songs and poems! More info: guante.info/salt
Releasing some NEW music friday, then a virtual performance saturday with me, @seemore.bsky.social and @katparent.bsky.social. All proceeds from both going to the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Twin Cities ICE Relief Fund. More info: guante.info/salt
3 ICE agents got McDonaldβs and then went on a joy ride through the neighborhood tonight around 1 AM. This has nothing to do with public safety and is all about terrorizing people and burning through taxpayer dollars. This is why we canβt rest until every last agent leaves our state.
It's cool that it's still possible to be awed by a live performance:
βI was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves. Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I havenβt lived in blood and bone. That doesnβt mean I want my people bombed, killed, their homes in ruins.β - Sahar Delijani
A "2026 at a glance" calendar for programs and offerings from the Building Movement Project and SolidarityIs, listing information about the Solidarity Is This podcast, Solidarity Syllabus blog series, as well as virtual opportunities. In May, there's a State of Solidarity discussion on solidarity wedges in movement ecosystems; followed by a Solidarity Intensive practice space on solidarity wedges taking place in June, and then a Solidarity Is Cohort training program for emerging activists in September. There is a photo of yellow wildflowers against a field of flowers and blue sky at the bottom. More information about all of these offerings can be found online: https://www.solidarityis.org/public-programs
We are excited to offer a number of co-learning opportunities for movement groups, leaders, and organizers this year - from virtual gatherings to new episodes of the Solidarity Is This podcast.

if I had to rank them (not that ranking means anything at all, haha), I'd have the BTS Busan performance at #3, the Bad Bunny halftime show at #2, and Beyonce at Coachella 2018 as #1. I don't listen to her as regularly as the other two, but the horns, the choreo, the flow of it all, just incredible.
okay hereβs a big one. this minneapolis middle school in an underserved area needs some real love to the tune of $27K. every little bit helps families pay march rent. can we put a dent in this?

Essential reading. "We in the U.S. need to reckon with the fact that so much of our state wealth, capacity, and technology goes toward burying children in rubble."
"Democracy does not come on the heels of missile strikes."
a call from the National Iranian American Council:
The US and Israel are bombing Iran. Anyone reporting it as βpreventiveβ is engaging in propaganda, by definition. There is no interpretation of whatβs happening as anything else than a crime.
You donβt have to like the Iranian regime to understand why this is bad.
I actually have a whole workshop curriculum built around writing bios (usually I share it with artists), and this one is a home run - warm and charming while also clearly conveying useful information, all very brief and readable. Everyone hates writing these, haha, but great work!
For the @melttheicewoa.bsky.social week of action, I updated this page sharing the links I'd want to share with other writers, artists, or culture workers looking for ways to speak out and show up in this moment.
Calls to action, artist-specific action ideas, writing prompts, a poem playlist, more:
thank you!
Someone was abducted in St Anthony this morning at 6 AM near 29th Ave & Silver Lake Road. And then at 8 AM we saw at least 5 agents out of their vehicles at 26th & Jackson near Walgreens before they dispersed into the neighborhood.
This isnβt over. We still need people keeping watch & staying safe.
Just got a message from South High saying βWe currently have requests totaling $33,965 for rent and we have $7500 available tomorrow. Please try to share the gofundme widely! Thanksβ
Well, that simply will not do. I'll match the first $900. Please help my fellow South High families if you can! π€π§‘π€
