The great @jimhightower.com recalls his work with Jesse Jackson. When we talked to Hightower last fall, he said that Jackson in 1988 ran "the only intentionally racially inclusive populist campaign in recent American history."

When I endorsed him for President in 1988, I called my daddy the night before. He was not an overt racist, but neither had he led any civil rights marches — so I expected a smidgen of caution. Instead, he immediately exclaimed: "Well, he's the only candidate saying anything!"

One of the luckiest breaks in my life is that I got to work with and learn from #JesseJackson. The Reverend didn't just talk — he rallied a multiracial populist movement and actually led.

As Jim Hightower has said, there should be a Doug Jones that measures the wealth and welfare of the average person and not just the stock market propped up by the wealthy. The Dow Jones measures wealth of the richest 1% more or less, standard errors apply.

IMHO, seems like mega corporations target small communities to site AI centers and other environmentally harmful activities. Small town boards make agreements with the corps that include annual payments to the town. Is the money really worth it? Keep an eye on your local leaders!
