Human. Writer. Developer. Product leader. (Not necessarily in that order). Sometimes writes about product, design, business and tech, but this feed is mainly just a brain dump of whatever is on my mind.

Yep. My in progress books is at like 12 right now. I keep starting a book getting a few chapters in and then feeing like it’s not going anywhere. That most of the info was in the first few chapters and then they tried to stretch it from an article to a book.

Oh that’s so smart. I love the idea of a quick button. I’m going to set that up now.

Accidently had my phone in do not disturb for a few hours this morning and made me realise just how disruptive and draining notifications can be.

It’s inspired me to review my notifications, turn most off and leverage dnd mode more.

Saw Pendulum live in Brisbane last night and it was so good! Still feeling the high from it today. Something about their music just speaks straight to my core and I can’t get enough of it.

Nope I think it takes the cake now. I’ve been trying to setup the GA MCP with the logic of well maybe if I’m not using the GA interface it won’t be as frustrating. But that’s just opened up even more frustrations.

Oh this looks super cute! I’ve been wanting to read more and in need of a better looking app to help track it. Signing up now.

Managed to get a bunch of folks to do the soda pop dance when doing my monthly product update today. Highlight of my week. Might need to add it to my LinkedIn…

The 10-Step Launch Checklist I Wish OpenAI Used How to Launch Products Without Losing Users

Took me a while, but feel like I finally found my voice when rewriting my latest post for the fourth time. Heres my take, on how I approach planing launches to reduce negative impacts. Aka how OpenAI could have not screwed up the GPT-5 launch open.substack.com/pub/katrinaw...

Love this. I’m for it but with a big caveat that you still gotta do the thinking work first. Get clear on the problem, the requirements and then start to prototype solutions. Sometimes the prototype helps you realise there are things you need to change, but I’m still all for having a plan first.

I have way too many email subscriptions and I know I should unsubscribe and setup filters but that’s a lot of work. I’ve tried so many apps that haven’t worked. I setup Superhuman last week and this is the first time in my life I’ve actually felt on top of my emails and can hit inbox zero everyday.

Oh awesome! I was curious if you’d need to run multiple account or if that would be enough. Good to know! Thanks!

Perhaps that’s what Shopify is trying to test here as well. But calling it a coding session for a PM interview feels like it might scare a lot of good folks off..?

Congrats! I’ve only recently started using Substack (and Bluesky), but your name is one I see all the time. Love your writing!

Communication, initiative/resourcefulness and ability to learn are probably my top three at the moment for product and design roles.

If someone has those skills then they can learn to build prototypes, and tackle most tasks.

Working in really small teams has always been my favourite way to work. This article is a good look into what the future of work might look like for product and tech companies.

This is so interesting. Of all the skills I want a product manager to have, writing code and building prototypes is not at the top of the list. It does feel like the lines are starting to blur between roles which can sometimes be good, but I also wonder what’s the cost…

Building an App with AI: Hope, Hype, and What Finally Worked My first adventure into vibe coding β€” from hitting walls with Replit to finding flow with Claude

Been playing with some vibe coding. Every project I build gets a bit better, but I wanted to remember how I felt when I did the very first one, so I wrote a post about it… open.substack.com/pub/katrinaw...

Have a look into Odyssey planning. Although I think you might do it already? I recently tried using ChatGPT for it as well and it was interesting to see how similar it was to mine for some parts and helped clarify what I don’t want.

Yep. Me too. I’ve been trying out allowing auto allow on simple projects which has sped up dev time a lot, but have trust issues on some projects where I want to keep a closer eye. I wish there was a sound alert or something to let me know once it’s finished or waiting input.

Watched KPop Demon Hunters last night. Wasn’t sure if this was my vibe, but absolutely loved it. Still thinking about it 24 hours later.

Oh nice. Curious which plan you are on? I’ve recently started using Claude Code and am finding myself hitting the rate limits if I work for more than an hour or two.

My favourite way to start Sundays. Yoga, cold brew and writing from an empty cafe.

Haha I watched some of the Anthropic courses with my 4 year old the other day. Curious to see if you’ve done that one too and how the google one compares?

I really want to use Bluesky more. But so many product folks are still only over at X. Looking to build a new feed over here. If you’re in product, tech or design, I’d love to connect.

I just rewatched The Matrix and had the exact same feels. T2 is up next in my rewatch list.
