The conversation doesnβt end here, we look forward to continuing our work with the Commission and the wider Open Source community to strengthen Europeβs open digital ecosystems.
Collaboration with public institutions, industry, and the Open Source community is key to strengthening Europeβs digital infrastructure and we must invest in the people who maintain our critical Open Source projects.
As outlined in our proposal for an EU Sovereign Tech Fund (EU-STF), supporting Open Source means supporting Europe's digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, and competitiveness, while also increasing its capacities for innovation and resilience.
With nearly 1,700 submissions, this was one of the Commissionβs largest consultations to date. Following the EU Open Source Week last week in Brussels, it was clear how strongly the Open Source and Open Technology community is engaging with Europeβs policy challenges.
Yesterday, the European Commissionβs public consultation on the Open Digital Ecosystems Strategy closed. At OFE, we welcomed the chance to share how open source can strengthen Europeβs digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, and competitiveness.
