In my time as a local Labour activist, I’ve noticed the old guard of “gentleman Conservatives” has died out and has been replaced by charmless loudmouths. This applies at a local level and a national level.
A bad parliamentary opposition just opposes everything, nothing positive or constructive, no engagement. They talk about their own agenda not the public agenda, stuff they find easy to talk about within their own comfort zone, getting applause from their own members. Badenoch’s lot are so bad.

I think I was 12 at the time and I found it a weird mix of sinister and hilarious. Still do, actually. It’s quite brutal and v camp. Puts me in mind of those “hagsploitation” films, and of Brenda Bruce in The Mad Death. Pretty unique in DW.

I love this film. Used to be on telly twice a week when I was a kid, and it popped up again recently for the first time in years and is still fantastic. Really funny, creative, imaginative, OTT, and stuffed full of star turns with twinkles in their eye.
