Debris in the camera shutter?
Debris in the camera shutter?
I got tired of directly editing a json file and decided to gamify it instead. Since I'm making my own reasoning model based on my own data, I figured I'd find a way to make annotating that data more fun.
Been playing with figma make for a bit. Itβs so close to being a good product.
But also, have you ever wanted to see all possible solutions to a board game?
I often see engineers getting surprised by this but tabs navigation should be arrow based, similar to radio buttons. So keyboard / screen reader users don't have to go through all the tab items before getting to the content π
If someone says βbridge the gap between design and developmentβ one more time, Iβm gonna lose it
Impact of AI on Tech ContentΒ Creators
Wes on Syntax: I write content. That content is consumed by people. But a lot of it has been used to train AIs for people to get a very quick answer. You can see the amount of bots visiting websites has been going up significantly. You ask a question aboutβ¦
You cannot guarantee your (insert ai design tool of the week) will still be there 1 year from now
Big note: anything you build into your process (using a specific software, a plugin, an api) all of it could go away with acquisitions, increased costs, or even internal capacity/funding for any specific tools.
Any robust system should be tool agnostic, outcome based, and have good fallbacks
And no, it wasnβt Figma. But itβs a big reason why I keep saying no to meeting with their team.
Like, can I get a kickback for this since itβs now going to be used as a differentiator?
Gonna go grumble and eat breakfast
lol, I gotta remember to keep my best ideas close to my chest.
Was taking part in a pilot at work and shared how I was making their tool work for me, only to have them tit-for-tat release my workflow as a feature of their tool the next week.
So uh, is this civil war 2?
How many zoom meetings does it take for you to finally put on pants for the day?
I donβt think Iβll ever get bored of making cool websites.
Guess whoβs moving back to the Seattle area because they got a job as a design technologist up there!
ππΌ
Uh, so I got a new job and Iβm coming back to Washington finally π
Nooo, I wish I could have gone this year so I could meet ya
The batman effect
Idk, the commute from my bed to my desk is still about 40 minutesβ¦
When your old design system team finally implements the plan you and your coworker put in place and they celebrate it like they didnβt fight it the whole time and force you outβ¦ Iβm not peeved, no not at all.
Back on the job hunt, I guess.
What's new?
lol my coworker and I have now made possibly one of the coolest pipelines for design system library analytics across code and design and Iβm really mad that I canβt show any of it.
Data at that level will probably never be approved by corp.
How do yβall get permission to share your stuff?
lol but also probably only for 9-12 months and then it doubles
Yup, thatβs what Iβm doing. Wonder if it plays well with animation.
lol what is mass consumption when the means of production sits on your shelf?
Time to build some custom visualization graphs of all this nowβ¦
Why doesnβt any charting library support react 19 yet? Do I need to do this all by hand?
Ok.
Thereβs so much that this empowers that Iβm excited again to see what insights and opportunities we have to measure the scope of impact when changing things or viewing utilization across an organization. Like, leveraging all the tools we have for visualizing, recommending, interacting withβ¦
Finally built a thing Iβve been chasing for a few years now. The foundational layer to quantify a design systemβs impact across the organization.
Also, Figmaβs analytics API sucks. Lol
Idk why, but the Figma API is hilariously restrictive
I can see a team name and the org it belongs to in the UI, but if I go to use the API all I get is βuser does not have access to this teamβ
Like, what Iβm trying to do requires me to jump through so many endpoints that I need my own server
That would have been a cool name to keep. But I guess go with what people will expect? Banner seems like it would be easier to remember for what it does, but still, masthead is cooler
Almost got this design where I want it. Still have plenty of tweaks I want to make and need to figure out the animations on the blueprints page.
Iβll go over and refactor a lot when I get more content in
