USPS got back to me with the "We regret we are unable to explain what may have happened to your mailpiece after they were scanned delivered"

this sucks dude my first ever passport and USPS not only fucking loses it but also says they can't figure out what happened either

this isn't even a case of "someone swiped my package" because USPS sticks these in the locked mailbox, and both times this has happened the package has been marked delivered way later in the day than the mail carrier actually runs the route

This week it happened again, USPS marked a package as delivered after 5:30pm, less than half an hour before the actual post office itself closes. This envelope also wasn't received, and more frustratingly, contains my freaking passport

Filed another complaint but seriously wtf, how does this happen

In December, USPS marked an amazon package as delivered around 5pm, but they don't deliver anything that late in the day to my place, and it was indeed not received. Filed a complaint, they tell me that since it's marked as delivered, they no longer have the package, and to complain to amazon.
