This weekend, WePlanet coordinated a protest against the closure of Doel-2 near Antwerp. The owner, French energy company Engie, wants to get rid of their nuclear assets as they'll be more profitable selling gas for the foreseeable future, to burn when renewables don't deliver.

In 2023 Austria sued the EU Commission for the inclusion of nuclear energy in the Green Taxonomy. At the time they were supported by a bulwark of EU countries & environmental NGOs that opposed nuclear energy. Honestly, it looked like they might win.
But today, that whole landscape has changed.
Global standardisation & deployment are how we have successfully brought down the cost & rollout time of other clean energy.
We encourage government, industry & civil society groups to increase cooperation for the deployment of nuclear energy to address the climate crisis.

Olkilouto could power roughly a quarter of Swedish households.
The two oldest reactors have been providing clean energy for over 40 years.
This shows the immense value nuclear plants offer once built - decades of clean energy.
Olkilouto could power roughly 5 million Aussie homes each day - emissions free.
The first 2 reactors began operating in 1979 & 1982. For over 40 years they've been providing clean energy. Planned to operate until 2038, with plans to extend that further.
