not the PISS
one of my favorite things about train travel guys on youtube is that they'll get out for a fresh air break in the most beautiful places in the world and be like "this gives us a chance to take some wonderful footage of the train." pure of spirit.
For context he's not doing a timeout, in the video this still image is from he is saying "you will enter our land vertically and you will exit it horizontally".

Absurd timeline we live in where the de facto leader of Iran is responding to an official USG account by quoting a now famous Nasrallah line which has sort of become a meme
Now more than ever I’m convinced losing Anthony Bourdain meant we lost probably the biggest person on tv who advocated for the wonders of meeting new people and calling anyone online who hated learning new cultures the children they were, ruthlessly to the camera.
they were shooting a huge freaking bomb at america and it hit tehran instead
yeah it looks extremely sick, i was planning a trip to the pnw and you can either do beautiful pacific scenery coming up from LA or come from chicago and see that whole northern stretch

thinkin about acting up and booking a really long train ride
honestly can't argue with that deal. two nights in a sleeper room and three meals a day for two thousand miles through a national park and most of the continental US biomes
also, and i'm no expert, but it feels like it may be harder to do secret commando raids with the element of surprise when you're in the middle of open war
Houthis entered the fray:
According to Arabic media, about 7 drones were launched from the Wadiya district of Saada province in Yemen, which is under the control of Ansar Allah (Houthis), towards the Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia's air defense systems neutralized all the drones.
"War has clearly hit a few timing snags" is going to be my new "We've turned a corner, but many challenges remain."
arguments that feel like "if we had good responsible men to only use the Kill List Functionality in a responsible manner..."
the problem is that if you give the machine the capability to create the Murder Lists, someone's going to use it "poorly" and it's going to be "on them" and that doesn't change the moral calculus of whether allowing it to have Murder List Capability was good in the first place
these days many people are saying un jour je serai de retour pres de toi
Twenty years ago, you'd see a movie at the drive-in with your best gal. Nowadays, it's run by the Cártel de Juárez
i really like the way the past gets closer. 2006 lol
Injection process for oil reservoirs
Oil in Kuwait isn’t really pumped. If reservoir pressure drops to the point that oil stops flowing to surface then they generally resort to water or gas injection to increase reservoir pressures - a HUGE amount of water is required to push the oil to the surface.
if the citizens of Melos didn't want to be mass murdered and/or sold into slavery, maybe they should've reconsidered how unsafe they were making Athens feel by being there
i think the main problem with all podcasts being in LA is that it requires the rest of us to constantly hear about astrology
ikr shooting at people is abuser tactics
the smol-beanism by gulf states is particularly perverse. oh you judge me? you judge me for hosting a belligerent nation's military and providing ongoing support for the people who assassinated your leadership??
[guy who's in a military alliance with your enemy] you have betrayed my trust
We don’t talk enough about how morally depraved the tech industry turned out to be. Every single ounce of their self-regarding statements of values was an outright lie.
Nobody should take messaging advice from me, but democrats might make a lot of mileage just by repeating facts about Iran like “it’s incredibly mountainous” and “there are 90 million Iranians”
You might think this is condescending but “Iran is near the Strait of Hormuz” and “all the world’s oil has to go through the Strait of Hormuz” are facts that were apparently not raised in the Oval Office
"A DOJ source told the Miami Herald that agents found her to be credible – and that they would not have interviewed her four times if they thought she was lying."

This makes no sense and it is disgraceful and incomprehensible that this is the president of the United States, with lethal force at his disposal, communicating in wartime.
It’s hackneyed now but it should never be: don’t normalize this.
