This is a great illustration of what the new energy order looks like:

➡️ large to small
➡️ centralised to decentralised
➡️ large grids to microgrids
➡️ one-directional to bi-directional
➡️ passive consumers to active prosumers

Of course simplified & highly stylised but it shows the direction of travel.

In an increasingly multipolar world where sanctioned entities can find enough partners outside of the US/EU sphere of influence, are export controls and sanctions fundamentally flawed as tools to limit technological or political progress?

This reminds me of @valinasr.bsky.social l & @nargesbajoghli.bsky.social book on sanctions. Just like sanctions on Iran ended up strengthening state resilience rather than weakening it, DeepSeek shows how resource constraints can drive innovation instead of slowing progress.

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Couldn’t agree more! For me it was the kids fighting and bullying each other at US schools. Makes me feel sick to my stomach every time I see it.

The energy transition will be much cheaper than you think Most analysts overestimate energy demand and underestimate technological advances

🌍 Why the Energy Transition Could Be Cheaper Than Expected. The Economist highlights four reasons for optimism. One stood out: 📈 Renewable energy capacity keeps beating forecasts, while costs continue to fall.

The transition is not just essential—it’s affordable.
