I paint my nitemares.
The AI bubble RAM crisis is caused for non-existent problems by non-existent money for a non-existent infrastructure to meet non-existent demand to make non-existent business and will utterly destroy real business based on real demand and real infrastructure built with real money for real problems.

FUCK YOU IT'S JANUARY!!!
anyway happy new year everyoneπ₯³
this definitely turned into an unhealthy fixation, and I want my 2026 new years resolution to focus on having a more balanced and sane approach to art, but at the very least I actually saw this through. Plus I have a massive backlog of completed and scanned pieces to share
Plus, I was obsessively trying to get this finished on October of this year to wrap it up on a nice round number, and neatly tie together a personal project I started that got massively derailed by - in hindsight - COVID, and every subsequent canon event that could be linked to it
Not gonna presume anyone's been waiting, but I'm aware it has been a BIT since I posted anything, and clearly not for a lack of things to post. I was stuck in that paralysis of taking so long to post that I wanted the thing I come back with to be "worth it" and to "make up for" lost time.

Just in time for the new year, I did it: I finished a sketchbook that I've been working on as a side project since 2019. A small sketchbook filled with full page completed illustrations and sketches. cover to cover, both sides of every page. 56 drawings counting the covers.

Ever since I learned this, I have made a point to preorder books from authors and artists I follow from my local bookstore. Often, they'll order an extra copy or two to stock on the shelves. It's crazy how low the number is to make a tangible difference!
Monsters
Nothing fills me with a sense of dread quite like the work of artist Chris Van Allsburg. When I was very young, his illustrations terrified me just as much as the ones in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, but in a way I didn't even have words to describe yet. He was liminal before liminal was cool
Screencap from Taito NES video game Bubble Bobble. Text reads: "The old world is dying and the new world struggles to be born! Now is the time of monsters! Good luck!"

Shinya Ohira animates like nobody else. He's a maverick artist known for the raw, explosive power of his drawings.
If you've seen The Boy and the Heron, you know his work. For this issue, we've gone inside his career and spoken to him about his craft: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/the-maveri...

People sometimes ask me how I animate cameras β
I wish I could say thereβs a master plan, but I improvise as I go.
Tweaking the FOV helps shape what the viewer sees β more of the world, or a close-up.
From outside the camera, the sceneβs usually a mess (*οΎβ½οΎ)
