Konsi the goblin, wearing a very frilly white dress.
I think you know my goblin, if I win, poke me for more references and a colour guide, but here she is!

Art event going on ^^
One lucky folk will receive a lovely piece of art from me!
What about "Chromium oxide green FIERY" is that better? :p
Unless it's a commonly used metaphor, their "AI" probably can't simplify it at all. Explaining a metaphor would require understanding of context, reasoning, and some media literacy. and these models don't tend to have any of those.
All this is doing is rewriting the sentences with simpler ones.
I think we can probably get all of these into one character design if it's a skeletal fox robot wizard doing some gardening.
A product photograph of the Faber-Castell Polychromos-278 Chrome Oxide Green pencil showing the colour of the pigment.
Oh yeah, lots of art supplies (especially paint) contain a really harmful stuff! Paint manufacturers have only started moving away from Cadmium red in the last 2 years, because Minnesota (!) banned it in 2023.
Looks like the name of my pencil is now "Chrome Oxide Green." instead of Chromium. Hm.
As an honest answer, it's impossible to get your hands on a fiver these days anyway, so they could replace him with dangermouse and nobody would notice.
We've got a Labour government pushing fascist surveillance-state laws that nobody wants, banning safety tools, demanding we hand over biometric data and IDs to random companies on the internet, attacking LGBT people, and throwing a billion pounds at AI gadgetbahns, and yet you want to focus on this?
I'll be honest, I've paid no attention to Substack before, so maybe I should continue paying no attention to Substack.
Your substack seems pretty cool, but I have to admit, the obviously gen-AI dinosaur icon is a massive turnoff - especially as the technology gets associated more and more with the far right. Would you like something to replace it with?
There's been quite a few reports that the most recent update royally screwed up windows explorer, a few friends of mine had similar issues that resolved when they rolled the update back.
I saw this the other day, and I absolutely got Break vibes from the robot and animation style:

Konsi has killed YET ANOTHER Chromium Green Oxide polychromos pencil. There was a huge amount of area to shade on this.
I've actually run out and had to order more.
One time I was playing Overwatch, and Logitech G-Hub decided "3pm Saturday is a great time to install updates", so it turned the mouse off mid-match.
It put a prompt on the screen with a 10s timer asking if I wanted to install now or later, but I couldn't click "later" because the mouse was now off
Konsi the goblin in the form of a marketable cute plushie. She is very rounded and squeezable. The plushie's shape resembles the makeship plushies of Honey the Goblin from the artist honeygoblin.
18. Plushie
I'd love to make a Konsi Plushie someday, although it's a bit of a pipe dream.
The shape I used is based on the makeship angel plushie from the ever-illustrious @honey-goblin.bsky.social

I was expecting "hoping to beat our high score" there for a moment.
A human writing alt-text for another human to use understands the context, so can provide a concise and purposeful description - which is what you actually want. all this junk detail isn't useful...
But I think if you're going to make all this junk detail, it'd be nice if it was correct?
It's a minor point here, but the AI-generated alt-text is inadequate in some places (e.g. a human can parse that the shirt says "get your flu shots and vaccinations today" but the AI cant)
In other places it's just flat wrong though, claiming the chyron is white text on a blue banner.
Holy wow that is a vibe.
Depends what I'm doing. If I'm writing, I like the pilot Juice up, if I'm drawing, uni-pins. Of the ones in your image, the pilot V5 is probably my favourite.
Nowadays people in power just make stuff up out of whole cloth, stuff that's obviously false on the face of it, and they just say it into the camera and nothing happens. We know it's a lie, but they don't get hurt any for doing it, so there's no reason for them to stop.
I feel there has been a shift over my lifetime in terms of accountability. In the 80s and 90s, a politician being caught in a blatant and harmful lie was often the catalyst for demoting them from important roles, or resignations, or getting fired. People would remember and vote them out of office.
I've found this holds true for other artists that I checked the metrics for, whether they have 100 followers or a million followers - it's pretty consistent!
Twitter on the other hand is *garbage* for engagement as a proportion of followers. Before I quit, I was getting about 0.5% - that's because over half my followers had just stopped going there or engaging with stuff there at all, and a good chunk of the rest were bots.
There's a lot of factors involved, but a good rule of thumb for expected "engagement" on an art post is about 5% of follower count. (That's total likes+replies+reposts divided by followers) - I find that *most* platforms hold pretty true to this.
Bluesky is in the 7-10% range for me right now.
I'm hoping we'll see a whole bunch of application makers start looking seriously at linux ports in the next couple of years, given what Windows is becoming.
Any time. I love trying out new things, and sharing what I find!
Those notebooks look really cool, I'd be interested to see what you think of the paper after a few more sketches.
Very excited! Which one did you get in the end?
I just think they're neat ๐
Lots of people have seen Crockett's questions, and putdowns in hearings (which, tbf are fire), and think she's great because they don't know her voting record is pretty much party-line stuff.
Dems ran a very expensive campaign of smear identity politics against Tallarico rather than policies.
