The tech stack is not so important for me (I pick up new tech quickly), but I've been enjoying working with full-stack Clojure for the last year+, and before this I've been deep in Ruby and JS/TS land.
Please get in touch, I'd love to talk!

Hi friends, as I'm about to wrap up my contract next month, I'm once again looking for work.
I'm a full-stack engineer with 20+ years of experience. I'd love to join a stable, friendly team where I could work on hard problems, technical or organisational.

βΊ Perfect! I've fixed the issue by hardcodingβ¦
I started working on a small graph UI toolkit in #ClojureScript, to act as a replacement for react-flow in Parts. For now it only has UIx components, but shouldnβt be too hard to support Reagent, too.

Billion dollar business idea: wet wipes that donβt fuse into one giant cellulose brick of despair inside the packaging while youβre dealing with a poopnado
I think the idea that has informed my thinking about LLMs as tools the most so far is that LLMs answer the question βwhat does an answer to this question look like?β Instead of the actual question.
This has been on my mind whenever I have to engage with anything LLM-related.

Whoa, Ricoh updated their GR app, and itβs actually pretty nice now! apps.apple.com/gb/app/gr-wo...

A screenshot of an email from the French consulate in London starting with a big red underline all-caps invitation to DO NOT REPLY
Gotta love the French bureaucracy and itβs friendly copywriting
Update: it was the new treesitter functionality. Turned that off and things work again. Bummer!
Time to take it to the xxxtreme and roll my own config?
Doom Emacs randomly decided to stop opening large-ish Clojure files (weβre talking sub-100kb). Oh joy, oh happiness.
Oh I had the exact same issue with Revolut, haha. Solved it fairly easily though!
Any UK small business owners who are using Wise as their only business bank account? Thinking of switching to that (from Revolut) because of lower costs, would love some feedback!
Dan I am not in principle opposed to the idea of a torment nexus; my main concern is: who decides who gets fed to the nexus?
Oh no, I have come full circle and it is now I who is disgracing the neighbourhood
hmm I donβt know about this one, Dan! Seems a bit too torment nexus-y to me
Wow someone on bluesky has built a digital version of the βthey are disgracing our neighbourhoodβ billboard from my Soviet childhood
I was wondering how you were handling this whole situation, it really cannot be easy π
Okay I guess Iβll still keep an eye on this space. @danabra.movβs open socials piece got me interested, found out about @tangled.org through it. Exciting stuff.
Back in the 90/00s, youβd go for a Mac as a way to rebel against the beige box PC hegemony, youβd go for Lotus 1-2-3 to protest against MS Office, and youβd get a Matrox g400 to show you had more taste than the average Quake-loving 3DFx-er.
What are some parallels today?
Thanks guys, I'll look into these!
Chat, how can I access my mp3 collection on my work laptop without actually copying it over (it has bitdefender on it and I don't want to trigger any alerts).
At home I guess I can just mount a network drive and point cmus/doppler at it, but what if I'm outside or travelling?
What version of adobe illustrator is this?!
Now that I'm no longer looking for work, I should turn my Hire Me website (hire.gosha.net) into a page on my homepage I think. It's a nice collection of past projects and kind things people have said about me.
UK friends: please recommend me your favourite accountancy. Must be friendly to contractors/small tech businesses π Thank you!
Thank you for your support Luke!!
Seems like Iβve successfully optimised that part of my life: Iβve joined a small but super smart team building some seriously cool tech using Clojure!
