Iβve always wanted to go to the Faroe Islands β looks truly wild. Enjoy Lewis.
Charities are warning that NHS #mentalhealth funding and the #MHIS could be at risk
Secretary for Health and Social Care #WesStreeting has stated he is βcommitted to the MHIS,β with full financial allocations releasing in the new year.
But what is the #MHIS, and why are charities still concerned?
Great piece by my colleague @bessantdavies.bsky.social on his harrowing ordeal of being detained in Lebanonβs Bekaa Valley while doing humanitrian work www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-...

I remember the Syria coverage dragging on for years. Itβs strange to see the brutal Assad regime being toppled on a Saturday night with no real resistance & far less excitable coverage than we had back in 2011-12. Echoes of the way the Ceausescus were toppled in Romania during its revolution.
"Tortoise Media said it has raised Β£25m to invest in turning The Observer into a standalone print product with a paywalled website. The Observer and Tortoise will combine into one newsroom." pressgazette.co.uk/publishers/n...
The sale of the Observer newspaper to Tortoise Media has been approved by the boards of the Scott Trust and Guardian Media Group.
They dated so quickly didnβt they. Never saw it coming.
Musk explains his X algorithm
People are leaving Twitter because itβs not fun anymore and no one is obligated to be on a platform they donβt enjoy.
Itβs not rocket science.
And I think weβre only just beginning to appreciate the scale of this phenomenon.

More than two feet of snow blanketed western New York and Pennsylvania on Saturday, with some parts getting more than three feet, as a lake-effect snowstorm disrupted post-Thanksgiving travel and stranded dozens of vehicles on highways. nyti.ms/3D1X9Ti
Love it.
Just deleted my Twitter account. Gutted. Iβd made so many friends there, and it was vital to my career, but Elon Musk destroyed it both morally and practically. For several months Iβd kept the account to lure people here, and now Iβm done. Iβm so glad Bluesky is thriving - thanks to you all π
I would definitely suggest the brilliant @salhachimi.bsky.social to be added to this starter pack.
βShe has some ineffective CBT. But - βI donβt need strategies for tomorrow, I need help with what my father did when I was a child.β
A strong unintended argument for a system-wide replacement of over-medication and CBT with trauma therapyβ

Twitter didn't gain relevance by being the biggest platform, it gained relevancy through the quality of the content and individuals. The main goal for everyone here should be to encourage global defender, media, and establishment accounts to transition to #BlueSky. That'll provide legitimacy.
Laying out some of the details of @safelyheldspaces.bsky.social βs #trauma-informed #journalism training - being piloted in British newsrooms next year at @journalismnews.bsky.socialβs NewsRewired conference yesterday.
Good to be up on bsky. Following the storm of interest provoked by our 2022 review, I am pleased to announce the publication of my book telling the story of the serotonin theory of depression from the beginning to recent challenges. Due out Jan 2025. To pre-order lnk.to/chemicallyim...

Great to see my friend, colleague and @mediastrong.bsky.social founder @leonaoneill.bsky.social has arrived. I canβt recommend her incredible book highly enough. It includes honest and raw accounts of the toll journalism can take on our mental health from some of the best names in the industry.
The annual MediaStrong conference - bringing together journalists, mental health experts, industry leaders - will take place in London in June 2025. Our keynote last year was Jeremy Bowen. Plans afoot for another fantastic event. Have a look at speakers we gathered last year - www.mediastrong.co.uk
Honoured and excited to be speaking at @journalismnews.bsky.socialβs NewsRewired Conference tomorrow in London. Looking forward to seeing some of my industry colleagues there. #journalism
