personally have this be one of the featured ones since it is a good utility, but in the main mod overall it does not fit :<

to make little of the problems people face without it, but if we write this integration, we're going to start a pattern of plugins that only work for specific bots that end up bloating the mod. like i said before though, if there was proper third party plugin support beyond recompilation, i would-
to discord updates in a timely manner like we are now able to do now.
plugin implementation detail aside, i do genuinely appreciate the apology, and i do understand it wasnt out of malice. i wholeheartedly agree that it would be a plus for PK users to have this implemented, and i really dont want-
difference is that we work with discord's internals daily, and with this plugin we'd be touching it only when it breaks, which means we have to refamiliarise ourselves with it every time we have to perform maintenance. this, in turn, increases our maintenance costs and makes it difficult to react-
what about tupperbox?). i dont want to devalue you or anyone else who uses PK, but there are multiple competing standards for the same tool which gets difficult when we start picking favorites on which ones we support. regarding api, you are right that in comparison it is a basic one, but the main-
i would love for a third party plugin system to be formally implemented, its just difficult with the current architecture and we've tried in the past to do such. i do know PK is an accessibility tool as well, theres just lots of issues with implementing a PK-specific plugin beyond api (but devs,-
i am very open to replies on this by the way, and i encourage it! i'm willing to discuss anything regarding this, ill reply to the best of my ability ^^
i dont like spouting drama stuff but like i said someone poked and asked me about this post in particular, so i feel like it should be given a proper response on here too
vencord and its devs are very open to criticism, but we wont tolerate comments like this towards contributors at all
i do however appreciate that the full github thread was linked by them, but since it was added as a repost and not as a reply or in the original post i dont feel it gained the same visibility, hence my whole response thread here
like V said as well, just because a comment is prefixed with "respectfully" doesn't make it less disrespectful, and we want to be able to develop this mod with everyone in a friendly environment. this sort of thing just ruins it for all of us
what i do not tolerate about this whole situation is the amount of vitriol that was given in the github comment and this post from hanna, and i dont understand how this is meant to encourage us to integrate it. bringing other devs' plugins into it for no reason as well doesnt help at all
we've instituted a new guideline since this PR was submitted to ban plugins that interact with discord bots (except for first party integrations like YTT) to make it clear what our stance is, since we've rejected other plugins like this before when they're for specific bots
i do in fact understand that some people want this plugin, but the amount of people who *do* want it is a very small amount of people, and most that have discussed it with us understand the reasoning (the responses we give are usually similar to what i've said above)
pluralkit is a popular bot, yes, but it is not in the most popular servers that people are usually in. we even tried it ourselves for a time, but had to remove it due to various problems. we also don't have API experience with PK, and maintenance burdens fall on us when they break
the two plugins cited were added before proper quality control was introduced (when vencord was a lot smaller), and have been kept due to their funny factor and because there's no retroactive QC. they wouldnt be accepted nowadays and other plugins from that time have been removed
the codeblock plugin that's being cited here was accepted because the actual patch it provides is significantly more performant than the css equivalent especially on multiple messages. i have personally profiled this myself and know it to be true, especially in channels with lots of messages
since this was brought to my attention, i'll rephrase the response i gave on that thread, because i feel like this entire thing is being misrepresented and i believe in transparency
