Christ, I think we *all* need soup this evening.
BBC 4 extra scheduling for The State of the Art
Due to be available on BBC Sounds later todayπ
Was saying to a coworker that things last seemed fun in 1997 and that was the last time I felt unconditionally happy.
She said, oh, that was when I was born!
So of course, I yelled, βEVERYTHING SINCE THEN HAS BEEN YOUR FAULT! YOU ARE THE HARBINGER OF CHAOS AND DOOM, CATHERINE!β
Heheh.
If you see this, we IMPLORE you to post a picture from whatever device you're using without explanation.
β¦and if it is actually an 8MB board, I can just solder the missing RAM on!
Just got a concerningly cheap Voodoo 2 card from eBay. Advertised as an 8MB board, but the photos show the full 12MB fitted.
Might be an absolute bargain, or might be junk!
This makes perfect sense. Before she retired, mum was an RSCN (Registered Sick Childrenβs Nurse) and is absolutely *bulletproof* to coughs and colds.
(Of course, she has the usual old-nurse rotator cuff and knee problems, but sheβs otherwise indestructible)
Which WarGames scenario do you reckon weβre in?
Wouldnβt a nice game of chess be better?
Wait, the floppy driveβs under the front?
Now I want one. I need to feel disk accesses through the palm of my hand!
Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!
*loudly boos consequences*
Incredible news!
Iβve no idea exactly what, but Iβm sure this accounts for *something*.
Amazing.
Ok, but only if you unfold the Elite II galaxy map first.
Iβve seen an unusual number of public displays of affection on the way to the office this morning.
I hope they realised my scowls were wistful.
Iβm five hours ahead, so letβs see if I wake to news of It Happening.
Iβm hoping he decides to warm up with a pre-show double-bump of whatever it is he uses to get through the day, and it turns out to be just too much.
Hehe, Iβm a, uh, distinct-looking fellow, so when I see someone a little similar to me, itβs a shock.
Iβve not seen a PCX for a long time! I remember being utterly baffled by PC image formats when I first moved over to DOS from an Atari ST. So, so many!
A photo of a pixelated image showing 9 very β90s game developers standing about. 4th from the right is circled βcos they look awfully like me.
On the CDROM of the DOS game Descent, thereβs a PCX image of the development team. Which is very cool.
BUT WHY AM I IN IT?! Thatβs me in my twenties, back when the ginger was still strong.
(Really though, I should find out who that is!)
Radiohead lied to us. Computer not OK. Computer not OK at all.
At least it was the last mine, so the ships know the way is clear.
*finds the last mine*
*yelling* βMy work here is done!β
*detonates the mine, turns into a fine red mist*
Photo of a screen showing Windows 3.11βs Minesweeper game. It on Medium difficulty, a 16x16 grid. Iβd cleared the whole board, found all the minesβ¦ but I mis-clicked the last square and lost.
Well, fuck.
Iβm holding a GU10-style light bulb. The brand stamped on the side reads, βMEGAMANβ
Bulb died in the kitchen. Itβs a MEGAMAN.
This is fantastic! Made it to 1200.
RobWords does some excellent videos on English if you really wanna scratch that itch!
This is an example of the Latin alphabet being entirely unsuitable for English. There's about 20 (depending on accent) vowel-sounds in English, but our alphabet only has 5 (6 if you include H as a part-timer) vowels.
So we have to stick them together to make more, e.g. 'ou' for an 'oo'-like sound.
Brain is being especially spiteful today.
I think Iβll go clean a keyboard or something.
Was at a talk today where someone essentially threw game theory and the prisoner's dilemma in a box, shot it, dropped it down the Mariana Trench before proceeding to yell that economics isn't abstract it's relational and has to do with people you idiots and our obligations to each other AS PEOPLE
