Energy bills will fall by ยฃ117 for millions of households in Great Britain from April Ofgem cap drops by 7% to ยฃ1,641 a year for consumersโ€™ average gas and electricity costs

#Energyprices are coming down.
Let's celebrate some good news when we get it, especially since we take plenty of the criticism when energy prices go the other way ๐Ÿ˜€.

Global economy must move past GDP to avoid planetary disaster, warns UN chief Exclusive: Antรณnio Guterres says worldโ€™s accounting systems should place true value on the environment

I couldn't agree more. Policy makers and business leaders need to think much more about incentivising good green growth over just any growth.

Infrastructure, Energy & Business as a Force for Good Today is the most upbeat day for investment in UK infrastructure in a very long timeโ€”long overdue, after many in the business community have championed these investments for nearly two decades. Thiโ€ฆ

Today is a tremendous day for UK transport & energy infrastructure. Here my thoughts on why this is so important for our country:

UK will rejoin Erasmus student scheme in 2027 - BBC News The UK left in December 2020 as part of the post-Brexit trade deal with the EU negotiated by Boris Johnson.

This is fantastic news - it's so much more than just study - it opens horizons, builds relationships and friendships, develops soft-power and allows people to understand cultural differences and celebrate, rather than knock them.

Farage says small business owners who thought Brexit would cut regulation have been betrayed โ€“ UK politics live Reform UK leader claims that burden of regulation is worse than before the referendum

You honestly can't make this up. There was no way #Brexit was ever going to cut regulation or bureaucracy for exporters to the #EU, large or small, unless we opted to stay in the Single Market and Customs union. Many of us in business repeatedly made that point.

Climate action is the best way to ensure long-term growth Although we may have underestimated the risks of the climate crisis, we have also been too pessimistic about the opportunities created by new, green tech...

Great piece in the @theobserveruk.bsky.social It really fascinates me that the cost of inaction to prevent the worst of the climate crisis is never really covered in our debates on this.

According to this piece;
Cost of action = 1% GDP, cost of inaction between 5-20%

Wind power has cut ยฃ104bn from UK energy costs since 2010, study finds Reduction comes from energy generated from windfarms and lower cost of gas owing to lower demand

Very well researched piece by UCL - Wind power has cut ยฃ104bn from UK energy costs since 2010.

The only answers to better energy security and overall lower energy costs are more wind power and renewables - implemented in a way that allows for a just transition.

My place or yours? - Flags and the far right from someone who looks different to you By Alex Andreou

This is a very powerful read - if you want to hear what it feels like to live on our UK streets right now. As Alex @sturdyalex.bsky.social says, we hear daily about the 'legitimate concerns' of people against less represented groups, but rarely hear this

NOTHING will prepare you for this 45-second story arc. From "I'm just doing this because I love the flag, it's totally grassroots, and I'm not part of anything political"... to who actually gave him the flags the night before.

We canโ€™t afford not to invest in our transition to clean power I read many articles similar to this Guardian Piece arguing that we canโ€™t afford the investments on our path to a clean power energy system. There are fewer articles arguing the opposite; thaโ€ฆ

Reform wants to cut council diversity roles. The problem is there are already barely any Exclusive: Party talks up sums that can be saved by cutting DEI jobs, but there are only a handful of such roles across the 10 councils it runs

Exactly this ๐Ÿ‘‡ No 'saving' at all, and instead you end up with councils run by people not representative of the communities they serve, with the obvious outcome of not serving those communities well.
