Nope, not there.
Nope, not there.
It's Friday, so it's time to identify a new slate of ten song lyrics! Stop on by and check it out and see if anything rings a bell.
Interesting! Five are already down. In addition, one has the correct *artist* identified, another the correct *song*.
Hey, it's time for ten new lyrics to identify. Last week, y'all got eight of ten. This week, who knows?
Just comment on the blog post; registration is not required.

Wrong:
Most AI coding output is not mediocre because the tool was not well co figured:
Itβs mediocre because most code out in the open IS mediocre, and (most importantly) most devs donβt know how to write high quality code. And this was true even before AI!!
I'll go ahead and check it out, it's free to see if the book is comprehensible in audio form β¦ no, wait, Hoopla says too many of my fellow patrons have used the service today, I can try again tomorrow.
Oh, I'm actually surprised. They have the audiobook, which normally I'd be fine with. Of course, if a book new costs $80, it probably has a lot of charts and graphs in itβ¦
Oooh, here's a book I want to read. It'sβ¦ um, $80 new in paperback. Everyone online says "library," let me checkβ¦
Oh, this was in my second Friday 10! thudfactor.com/lyrics/frida...
This is indicative of a mindset which essentially says "there can be no such thing as scholarship or intelligence when it comes from a group I've been conditioned to demonize" and we'd all be better off if we realized these people are simply like this. There's nothing to persuade here, it's bigotry.
People really need to take this seriously.

Mamdani: hi! hereβs a fun video I made about having a snow day! look at this cool building I found! have some child care.
It doesn't surprise me that a viral anti-porn app with mainstream media coverage allowed months to go by with their user data exposed to anyone who knew a handful of common exploits. Anti-porn crusaders tend to reserve their *greatest* disdain for the people who actually accept their "help."
This is true, but I have also found significant value in anthropomorphizing the AI. Once you start thinking of it in more human terms, your expectations shift to getting more human results⦠with all of the errors in judgement that implies.

I wanted to share something with you. And around the time I was adding a third skeet to the thread, I started thinking, "Is this really a post on Bluesky, or am I doing a blog post on hard mode?"
So I put it on my blog. (Yes, a blog, not a Substack.) #blog #fun
This is, quite simply, not remotely true. One generation ago? In 2002? What about two and three generations ago? Nope. Not remotely true. It doesn't advance discussions of political economy to make absurd claims like this.
Tedious thing that's kept me from doing way too many front-end code demos: creating an interface for easily changing property values.
Well! I just discovered Tweakpane, so here's a demo setting that up: codepen.io/editor/elfin...
Popup dialog box on Codepen welcoming me to CodePen 2.0 and inviting me to take a tour of the new features (which are *significant*).
Congratulations, @codepen.io -- this is the first "new feature tour" I've voluntarilly interacted with in at least ten years.
Good job! I can't wait to dig in.
βare LLMs consciousβ you cannot get me to participate in this argument on Bluesky of all places, be serious
When I quoted: "Gartner predicts that by next year, half of the companies that fired workers for AI are going to hire them back," a couple of days ago, I got a host of "all AI is evil, so take that!" crowing, as if rehired _tech_ workers will be going back to using manual processes alone.

Weβre supposed to get a mailed ballot but havenβt seen ours yet. I wonder how many people are in that same boat.
I think this gap is EXTREMELY real in a business sense and yet there is also the revealed other thing here which is a great deal of people in the world will never be remotely of interest to SaaS, and we know it, and those people still have needs suited to software
Currently, @thudfactor.com and @unrealfred.bsky.social are tied at one lyric identified apiece. Maybe it's time to stop by and see if you recognize any of the lyrics left!
Last friday, visitors identified eight out of ten lyrics! The answers are up for the remaining two, and we have the first Friday 10 of March!
Playing is easy β just drop by the blog and comment if you recognize a song. No registration required, either.

Listen Iβm a man who grew up in the 90s, I learned a long time ago not to comment on anything Britney does one way or the other, ever.
I mention this because a lot of the βAI is awesomeβ noise comes from people in control of their entire pipeline. I get it. That *is* awesome.
But when you are not in control and held responsible anyway, that kinda sucks.
