Are Vancouverites VERY interested in the new austerity budget being proposed for Vancouver, and the implications for our values, our resiliency & quality of life, our reputation (and competitive advantage) as a leader in sustainability and climate action?
Well, I’ll be the 609th speaker to Council.
It’s magic

How can building and energy codes change to better suit existing buildings and help reduce carbon emissions?

Bike lane in Barcelona protected by: motorcycle/scooter parking, containerized trash/recycling, and a bike share station. (Note the flashing yellow bike signal allowing cyclists to go through the crosswalk when it's clear.)
Starting a study looking at best practices for desinging tall, family-friendly buildings. In need of case study precedents - any suggestions?
Erika Kirk is going to turn up the volume on the right's efforts to win young women in a way I don't think any Democratic party or movement org is ready for. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
Tune in as we introduce the No Political Enemies Act.
We aren't going to lie down as Trump tries to destroy free speech in this country.
If we’re going to have Chinese style autocracy in the US, I’d also like the renewable energy infrastructure, high speed rail, electric vehicles, investment in science, and good food.
Concreteless pavement to ease access to utilities. What’s not to like? @jasonthorne.bsky.social @paulkuligto.bsky.social @dorsajalalian.bsky.social
The benefits of asymmetry on full display along Blackfriars Road this morning. Predominantly north bound cycle traffic using the width of combined path. Central boulevard for bike and car parking and stops separate use from the sidewalk to keep them obstacle free….
Silly Jimmy Kimmel. He should have just called for all homeless people to be killed and he’d still have a job.
Downtown from the air from a time when there were more surface parking lots than actual buildings in some downtowns.
Few things did more critical damage to North American downtowns than the demolishing of old buildings to build massive expanses of surface parking, along with the widening of roads to create huge one-way “car sewers,” all based on the failed theory that surrendering to cars would “save Downtown.”
the future is car free
'What New Urbanism often misses is that conditions today are fundamentally different from the conditions that produced the places it seeks to emulate.'

“Gun control was among the numerous political and social issues he discussed at events and on podcasts. A few months ago, Kirk said: "It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment". #CharlieKirk

... and improve green infrastructure performance by increased stormwater capacity by coupling swales. IF both sides of our streets are not equal in terms of environment - why treat them the same? More so along lengths of streets that are single loaded in terms of use.
This is super @dorsajalalian.bsky.social . In a rapidly warming world we need to be looking at streetscapes in terms of performance and comfort. Assymetrical sections could really improve shade and comfort to the exposed side of the streets (the north side of our streets in particular)...
.... in either different times of the day (for north-south streets) or times of the year (for east-west streets). I walked the length of Queen West to work everyday for two years and would walk the north side in the winter and the south in the summer.
Great point Paul. Per the example of Wellington from Dorsa I think either side of the street (where there is a double-loaded condition) should be provided for in a way to encourages foot traffic on both sides of the street. Naturally each side of a street has greater comfort.....
The nominee to head the democracy promotion bureau at the State Dept told us today that his priority was to "tell the truth".
Interesting because Secretary Rubio has placed a gag order on telling the truth - banning the criticism of dictators that rig and steal elections.
Pritzker: "He has no idea what's he's talking about. There is no emergency that warrants deployment of troops. He is insulting the people of Chicago by calling our home a hellhole, and anyone that takes his word at face value is insulting Chicagoans too."
Local councillor objection is key moment here. All leadership in Toronto kneels before the homeowner (and car driver). Even the downtown enviro ones.
Exactly. Can you please point me in the direction of that recco @dorsajalalian.bsky.social ?
Does Wellington St., between Spadina and Portland qualify? Bidirectional bike lane and deciduous trees on the north side, garden bed and retail spill-out zone on the south.
We also promoted this idea as part of thermal comfort guidelines, for the same reasons you stated.
