Even in Siminoff’s absence, Ring had always, explicitly been intended to assist law enforcement. In a series of investigations we did back at VICE (mostly written by Caroline Haskins, who is still covering surveillance at WIRED), we uncovered thousands of pages of documents, emails, and chats via public records requests and leaks that highlighted Ring’s surveillance ambitions. The company threw parties for police, employees wore β€œFUCK CRIME” shirts to internal parties, and helped police facilitate the retrieval of footage from its customers’ cameras if they initially refused to cooperate. It helped police set up elaborate, completely useless package β€œsting” operations designed to catch criminals but that did not result in any arrests. Ring gave cops devices that they could raffle off to people in their towns, gave police β€œheat maps” of where its customers lived, used its social media accounts to post footage of supposed suspicious people, and incentivized customers to create β€œDigital Neighborhood Watch” groups that could earn them swag if they used their Ring cameras to report suspicious activity to police.

For a while, Ring tried to rebrand as the "watch the delivery driver dance" gadget, but its founder is obsessed with crime, threw parties for cops, and its employees wore "FUCK CRIME" shirts to parties

Wow.

U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie ruled Lindsey Halligan's appointment unlawful and the prosecutions against New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI Director James Comey therefore invalid.

Both indictments are dismissed without prejudice.

Dental insurance isn’t a scam β€” but it’s also not insurance How we pay for going to the dentist is supremely screwed up.

The thing about dental insurance is that it isn’t really insurance β€” it’s more like a half-helpful discount plan with a maximum. And once you reach the maximum, you’re on your own, often to the tune of hundreds and thousands of dollars. As though going to the dentist needed to be less fun.

ER doc here! This is a lie. Wait times are up because the American healthcare system is an unsustainable business model and a for-profit national healthcare system just doesn’t work. These problems will continue to get worse until we change that system. It literally has nothing to do with immigrants

How are folks finding what MCP servers are in use in their organizations? Not just remote ones, but local also. There are a ton of places where they are configured that I've seen even for just something like Claude.
