Vibe coding broke people's brains because they had a bad understanding of the software design process.

The pop culture model goes something like this: start out with a sketch and then render that same idea in progressively finer detail.

So when tools could "skip" to high detail, people went WOW.

OkHttp isn't complete, but I can see why it's useful to consider it. it has a defined scope and doesn't seek to be a toolkit like Netty that needs to consider all new requirements.

Equally, when it's not complete for some use case, Interceptors are the secret to allow apps to unblock themselves.

i was looking at the map because of the war stuff and was surprised to find Russia is smaller than both of its neighbors, lithuania and poland. for some reason i assumed it was really big

What happens to Square / Block Android OSS projects post layoffs?

Let's start with some context

OSS at Square is mostly a happy accident. Jack hired Bob, who's job was attracking world class engineers, and he did that through talks & OSS.

I suspect trump is already considering a 2 child limits for families living in areas where their energy use causes shortages, price rises and risks capital investment of the presidents friends.

From a colleague:
The anti-pattern is a `PLAN.md` that says "we will do X" when the code already does Y. Plans live in conversations; outcomes live in artifacts.

Full up-front planning never worked in software development, agentic coding won't change that

He was always the first to offer a hand if your stablehand was off sick. To hear this today... it's like talking about a completely different person. He just seemed like a quiet, decent bloke who kept his head down. I suppose you really never do know what's going on behind the palace gates, do you?"

Prince William's statement:

"Im honestly just floored. I'd see Andrew out there most weekends, usually just tinkering with his vintage polo mallets. We'd swap a few words about the pheasant season or the state of the local foxhounds--just normal, everyday stuff, you know?...

Single frame. Title: β€œ[redacted]” A line of early teen? girls looking at the viewer. Behind them, silhouettes of four generic men, some with hand on shoulders of the girls, which have been through six iterations of redaction to satisfy the newspaper’s lawyers that none are identifiable.

I remember, I think, a fragmented podcast talking about differences between Android and iOS developer. Android developers tying themselves up in knots adopting the latest perfect framework. iOS developers writing shitty code with whatever Apple gives them, but only focusing on the product experience
