Notion just dropped its new databases - probably the update with the biggest confusion potential of 2025?

So... what's happening?

Databases evolve to database containers

Meaning you can now have multiple data sources in one database block

Outside of that, it's not yet easily possible to switch data centers as a self-serve customer, but that's hopefully now just a matter of time 😇

checking one more thing of the bucket list before the big conference in a few weeks

... I wonder what they'll release there? 😎

This is a huge step forward for adoption in EMEA - really excited to see this!

For now, access is still a bit limited unfortunately:

- need to be on enterprise plan
- need to have "sales assistance", i.e. more than 100 seats

new Notion update: you can now move the comment section on pages below the content 💪🏻

To do so, go into the Database Layout Customisation menu and then choose the location 😇

That means you can't yet set group ownership and then have it inherit down to the individual "what's on my plate" pages.

So for now, more of a nice-to-have than a workflow change

But keep your eyes peeled 👀

New Notion Update - you can now mention groups in people properties! 🔥

Love to see this small but meaningful change

For now, the functionality is still a bit limited, mostly because the all-important "Me Filter" doesn't trigger based on groups.

Because while you can't turn off certain AI features yet, AI will respect user permissions.

So if the user can't make a change, AI won't make a change on their behalf.

sooo... time for a security audit? 😅

Already before this change, the first thing we did in every new client workspace was to make sure those security settings are correct.

And now that users can also accidentally have AI make these changes, this is more important than ever.

Now, what's the background?

Notion AI is finally getting the skills to do things for you.

it now can...

- search through databases (finally!)
- create new pages (pretty cool)
- update page content (uh oh)
- update database entries (... wait, really?)

Your Notion might be at risk...

(... and yeah, AI is partially to blame 😅)


with the new AI features rolling out in Notion, we'll unlock A TON of cool use cases

But if you work in a team, then this is your last chance to improve security before things get really messy
