True (and very funny). Our 'empty' oil bottles remain in the cupboard because if they're put out ready to recycle, we'll find cats licking them. Sadly this means oil bottles often miss one or two recycling days because out of sight is out of mind.

My husband said "There's an empty bottle of oil in the cupboard" and the pedant in me couldn't help but reply "You mean there's an empty oil bottle in the cupboard. It's only a bottle OF oil if there's oil in it."
Bracelet with the word 'Cymraes'.
Hastings public library building external photo. There are arched windows, brown bricks, pretty mouldings and a weird roofed turret. It's 4 storeys high, plus turret. Sorry, I don't have architectural knowledge.
This is my local public library. What a stunning building! I wish I knew the correct architectural words to describe it. Do you have a favourite beautiful building in your area?
I love reading audiobooks. The whole story, just as the author intended, but with someone else doing the eye-strainy bit. What an absolute marvel. I wish all of my books could be audiobooks too.
Two cats looking straight towards the camera, one sitting on a window sill, the other on a table.
Do you think it's Kitty breakfast time?
Sun sitting low behind hazy, horizontal clouds above the beach and sea.
Good evening from the south coast of England
Green sofa against a beige wall with sunshine making shadows.
This morning I took a photo of a wall in my house just to remind me that sunshine is actually still possible (although so far this year unlikely).
Aaagh! Today was one of those days when editing a story took all morning. I realised at 1:15pm that I was still wearing my dressing gown. Then discovered that BBC replaced today's Bargain Hunt with a politics programme. Someone press the reset button...
Got some stuff done today. Feeling pleased for moving on with things I've been putting off.
I completed a survey yesterday that asked me what languages I speak, and, for the first time, I felt I could include Welsh. Feels like an important moment somehow.

If you've decided that 2026 is the year when you will become a Welsh speaker, then this is for you:
Don't wait to be confident before you speak.
Speak first, before you know enough Welsh to be confident. That way, there's no pressure to perform, no trying to be perfect.
My Welsh course is asking me what I can't live without and I'm taking it far too literally. The least literal I'm willing to be is 'sbectol' and 'cerddoriaeth' (glasses and music). This from someone who writes novels. I don't understand myself 🤨🤷♀️
It won't be long now!🌼

Winter sunrise in Sussex.

Little bit of beach. Flat sea. Sun shining through layers of cloud.
I love a bit of sea-nery.
Of course, the amazing Dolly!
I could add Betty White if she were still alive.
Good call @angeladh.bsky.social 🙂
I think if the whole world was run by Keanu Reeves, Levar Burton and Michael Sheen, everything would be great. Does anyone want to add someone else to the list? To be honest I'm not expecting to get any comments as Bluesky has been a bit of a void so far for me, but we'll see.
White and torbie cat sitting with nose almost touching the seat, very close to being asleep.
Zzzzzzz
Damnation. Politics has leaked into my Bluesky posts. Did I let it? I guess I must have. It's hard for it not to when... well, you know, it's all so hugely important. I shall try to keep politics for other platforms. Not guaranteeing I'll succeed though...
The so-called "supreme court" is a pile of cr*p. Forcing trans women and girls out of women's spaces is vile. Failing vulnerable people to satisfy the privileged. Shameful.
Ruined clifftop castle in Hastings, East Sussex lit by setting sun
Not much left of this very special castle, but it can still look fantastic in the light of the setting sun.
It's a new low when your store card provider emails you to say you can earn extra points 'just by gaming on your phone'. No. No thank you. I'd rather eat olives (which I hate, by the way).
Mae'r adeiladwyr yn dod bore yfory. Mae llanast fy hunan yn iawn, ond dim llanast adeiladwyr. Bydd wythnos hir.
Black cat with one paw raised to the side across his front.
I feel like Wizard is inviting a caption competition with this pose. Maybe 'You didn't bring cat treats? The exit's that way.'
