Hospitals participating in #340B are more likely than non-340B hospitals to aggressively pursue patients with medical debt. Charity care is meant to help patients, not be misused as a vehicle to garnish their wages and sue them in the name of profit.

How UnitedHealth’s Playbook for Limiting Mental Health Coverage Puts Countless Americans’ Treatment at Risk United used an algorithm system to identify patients who it determined were getting too much therapy and then limited coverage. It was deemed illegal in three states, but similar practices persist…

Why do massive insurers, especially one that is among the top ten most profitable companies in the world, deny mental health care? To retain profits at the expense of patient care.

What could be scarier than ghosts? Insurance ghost networks – where they list providers who do not accept insurance, duping patients into believing β€œthere are more options for care than actually exist.”

CANN's strong digital footprint helps shape patient-centered policies, and so do our real footprints as we work in-person. This week, we had the pleasure of collaborating with incredible partners like Dr. Ifeoma Udoh of @blkwomenshealth to ensure health programs serve those most in need.

As we’ve said before, those who have nothing to hide should not be afraid of transparency. AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs) have long used the rebate model – if they can do so under size constraints and other limitations, so can large systems.

Hospitals Turn a Safety-Net Program Into an ATM The 340B program was created to help the vulnerable. Today, it too often enriches hospital systems instead. Reform is long overdue.

The inimitable @sallypipes points out that #340B growth is funneled into private investments and financial portfolios β€” not patients.

Reminder, CANN will always put patients first. The 340B program was not designed for covered entities and third parties to cosplay Wolf of Wall Street β€” and we will always stand on that. Our receipts are public. If health system lookalikes and consulting firms have nothing to hide, prove it!

-Repayment to pharmacies.
-Interest on late payments.
-A corrective action plan.
