even then, Jun was actively involved as vocal coordinator (Zebrahead, LB).
Shadow the Hedgehog was the last game in a streak of consistent Jun sound director, after that it was Black Knight, Generations, TSR, SXSG. Generations being the outlier happening soon after BK.
and it's not like that was because the soundtracks were by Ohtani or whatever, even when Ohtani is the sound director, Jun is usually involved with picking external vocalists.
It's not like SEGA specifically shafted Jun after Crush 40 stopped appearing on the game soundtracks. This also relates to the lack of Crush 40 from 2010 to 2018, Jun just didn't have any projects he felt were a good fit to specifically get Johnny as a vocalist on.
I sometimes see people talk about Jun as if he's some third party guitarist and not literally a SEGA employee who's full-time job is to work sound on SEGA projects. For the last 20 years they've been rotating him, Ohtani, Tokoi, and others as sound directors depending on what the project needs,
it always felt like people exaggerated how much of a "band" Crush 40 is. I'm not saying it's not, but it also is just a brand/label for whenever Jun calls Johnny to do vocal stuff for Jun's SEGA projects.
