it's confusing to me because i see a lot on my feed about both npmx and tangled and it feels weird that npmx is on github despite seeming pretty enmeshed in atproto. mostly curious what i'm missing there

has anyone who happens to follow me used tangled for something beyond "personal project where i am the only committer"? how has your experience been with it?

fake screenshot of MDN web documentation for a "navigator.getAgeBracket()" JavaScript function, parodying the upcoming law that will force operating systems to expose a user's age bracket to apps in California. The visible body reads as follows:

πŸ”’ Secure context: This feature is available only in secure contexts (HTTPS), in some or all supporting browsers.
ℹ️ Californian context: This feature is available only in the state of California, in some or all supporting browsers.

The getAgeBracket() method provides information about the user's age bracket, according to the age ranges specified by AB 1043. It returns an age bracket promise, which resolves with an AgeBracketManager object providing boolean properties for if the user is in each range (under 13, 13 to 15, 16 to 17, over 17). This implements the Age Bracket API; see that documentation for additional details, a guide to using the API, and sample code.

ℹ️ Note: Access to this feature may be controlled by the Permissions-Policy directive age-bracket.

Guide to Incrementals/Defining the Genre | The Paper Pilot

I'd say no. If you like reading, a friend of mine has written extensively about what counts as "incremental" paperpilot.dev/garden/guide...

This is not a one-trick pony. This is not even a one pony. I have ten ponies roped together in my barn with brain chips implanted in their skulls to have them learning new tricks around the clock. I'm trying to maximize my trick-to-pony ratio.

Baby Wikipedia, the 25th birthday mascot for Wikipedia, who looks like the Wikipedia puzzle piece globe but with short stubby limbs and large eyes. In this screenshot, it is wearing an astronaut helmet and floating above a Wikipedia article, with starstruck eyes and an open mouth resembling that of a cat.

XMPP has matrix jank though to a slightly lesser extent imo (though you probably don't see a lot of it because nobody uses XMPP for large public rooms)

most of the people i frequently dm are either dead set on discord or i already talk to them on xmpp or signal

as someone who was all over Discord alternatives for many years (my stoat account is from 2022!) i just feel apathetic now. i don't care enough to move my community anymore. i'll join a server on whatever if i have to but i don't think discord age assurance is what'll tip any big scales

has the bluesky mobile app been increasingly broken for anyone else? mine likes to randomly enter a state where i can't zoom in on images and the bar up top listing my feeds is frozen

In the future I'll just be able to have my Claude battle your Claude in a debate styled like a PvP match, where there's a third Claude that judges the merits of their arguments and deducts HP respectively
