If they’re conducting a law-enforcement operation, they can go on regardless. So the only time we’d be charging them a fare is if they were just riding to get somewhere and I can’t imagine that happens very often.

Was a pretty quiet birthday. My partner made an incredible apple pie for me and we played the first 6 episodes of Dispatch. Not bad. 🍽️

If your religion says you can’t do something then don’t do it. Don’t get the law to force other people to conform to your religion.

Muslims can’t drink alcohol but I’ve never heard of a Muslim going to the Supreme Court to get neighborhood bars shut down.

still thinking about the Montana knife maker who said you don't have to worry about tariffs if you buy american. and then three months later, he realized he imports swedish steel and german equipment. and even MiUSA equipment costs $100k more now because of tariffs

I know we’re doing some significant updates this year. With the rollout of tap to pay this fall, it also won’t be a problem for most people unless they have an Eco pass.

To be clear, we didn’t wave anything through last night. We approved a solicitation for a contract.

In fact, thanks to director Paglieri, we expressly removed the automatic approval that was in the original agenda item.

Scatterplot titled “Empirical Evidence of Ideological Targeting in Federal Layoffs: Agencies seen as liberal are significantly more likely to face DOGE layoffs.”
	•	The x-axis represents Perceived Ideological Leaning of federal agencies, ranging from -2 (Most Liberal) to +2 (Most Conservative), based on survey responses from over 1,500 federal executives.
	•	The y-axis shows Agency Size (Number of Staff) on a logarithmic scale from 1,000 to 1,000,000.

Each point represents a federal agency:
	•	Red dots indicate agencies that experienced DOGE layoffs.
	•	Gray dots indicate agencies with no layoffs.

Key Observations:
	•	Liberal-leaning agencies (left side of the plot) are disproportionately represented among red dots, indicating higher layoff rates.
	•	Notable targeted agencies include:
	•	HHS (Health & Human Services)
	•	EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
	•	NIH (National Institutes of Health)
	•	CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau)
	•	Dept. of Education
	•	USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development)
	•	The National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE), despite its conservative leaning (+1 on the scale), is an exception among targeted agencies.
	•	A notable outlier: the Department of Veterans Affairs (moderately conservative) also faced layoffs despite its size.

Takeaway:

The figure visually demonstrates that DOGE layoffs disproportionately targeted liberal-leaning agencies, supporting claims of ideological bias. The pattern reveals that layoffs were not driven by agency size or budget alone but were strongly associated with perceived ideology.

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

There's an egg shortage in the bay area due to bird flu issues, and we've tried a few times to buy eggs in the last few weeks with no luck. I went to Costco this morning right as it opened and was able to buy some. But the woman in front of me loaded her cart with *53 cases* with 2 dozen eggs each.

Communication is not a first world problem. At a minimum we should be able to tell people what they’re gonna experience so that they can make the choices they want to make, even if that’s just letting people know how long it’s actually gonna take so they can call a loved one.

One of the very cool things about this case is that the court called one of the original framers of the MT state constitution to help interpret it because our constitution is only 50 years old and Mae Nan Robinson Ellingson was 24 years old when she helped write it.
