The House has refused to sign onto the changes the Senate made to the Mosquito Fleet Act.
And the state Senate has officially signed off on the changes to SB 6346, sending it to Bob Ferguson's desk.

State rep Michell Valdez gives a rambling speech after staying up for 14 hours in Olympia
You don't actually have to hand it to Republicans for standing up for millionaires for fourteen hours in Olympia. They still haven't allowed a vote on the tax this morning. The Democratic NO votes are very feisty.
I AM BROKEN: Washington legislature passes the millionaires tax 51-46 after more than 24 hours of debate. I may never live skeet again. π
After over 24 hours of debate and rejection of dozens of amendments sponsored by Republicans, the Washington state house FINALLY passes a tax on those earning more than $1 million per year (51-46 ). It now heads to the desk of gov. Ferguson, who is expected to sign it.πΎ Generous applause.
After more than 23 hours of debate, the #waleg is finally about to vote on final passage of the millionaires tax
Brandi Kruse, Ari Hoffman, and Jonathan Choe won't get press passes. Boo-hoo π
The WA State Senate has voted to concur with the ALPR bill, and it is now on its way to the governor's desk to be signed into law.
I look at the aftermath of former City Attorney Davison's term (spoiler: lots of domestic violence cases in that backlog) and what changes new City Attorney Evans is looking to make in the running of the office.
Also touch on new legislation to allow use of private toxicology lab testing for DUIs.
Great reporting, thanks!
Agreed. The session is so short and it's difficult to move bills and this is a waste of time and the GOP knows that.
Any recipe with the words "working quickly" is an inevitable disaster for me π
Counterpoint: pie crusts are actually pretty difficult to make.
Approaching hour 17 of #WALeg debating the Millionaires Tax on the floor. Made y'all something to pass some time!

It's been another two hours so it's time for a new thread. Millionaires Tax Debate Part 8: The Ocho. #waleg
A federal judge on Monday ordered officers at Portlandβs ICE facility to continue restricting use of tear gas and less-lethal munitions against non-violent protesters. It's the second ruling in less than a week that has limited their use of chemical agents. oregoncapitalchronicle.com/2026/03/09/f...
The Washington Education Association has a tracker of how long Republicans have delayed a vote on the millionaires tax. We're currently at more than 16 hours...

Was hoping to report on passage of the millionaires tax, but Republicans are still trying to introduce pointless amendments to the bill...
We are now talking about gold and silver coins...
I can't say I recommend watching WA state Republicans opposing taxing the wealthy into the wee hours of the morning
Am I live skeeting the endless debate on the millionaires' tax that Republicans are waging at the moment in the #waleg? I guess I am, for a least a few minutes...
Holy shit, they're still at it. Just let them tax the wealthy so everyone can go home!
Apparently Jim Walsh put a bit too much mustard on his hot dog while having lunch at the legislative cafe...
Looks like Ann "trying to look tough on crime" Davison racked up a backlog of 1,700 domestic violence cases her office failed to file.
This is very interesting -- Pedersen is an old-school consensus Dem in a district that also has a proud socialist representing it in Olympia and where hunger for progressive change is high.
BTW, I'm in the midst of a paid membership drive this month for my newsletter. For just $5 per month you can help me continue to write @cascadiajournal.bsky.social. Thanks!
We're not done yet!
Email your state reps here--yes, even if you live in King County--saying you are "neutral" or "opposed" on this bill and asking that the House's version be adopted. There's still time to pass the good version!
