Someoneβs sharp X68000 setup with those Roland monitors and itβs playing the game Cotton
Serial Experiments Lain is a cautionary, deeply political story about how cool the Sharp X68000 looked, and what would happen if computers kept looking like that.

The one instance of "you gotta walk all the way back yourself" that made me completely quit a game
Not quite the same thing but that reminded me of that one cave in FF9 where you beat the boss at the end, i used the save point by them afterwards, then hauled ass all the way back only to be jumpscared by another boss blocking my way out...when i was low hp and out of items...after saving inside...

Everytime I ask people at a new game shop if they sell one i can see them live trying to parse my behaviour to figure out whether i'm a bumbling fool asking for a wiimote or actually asking for the snes controller, which should just be called "snes controller for wii" to save everyone's time
This is exactly my problem when playing emulated snes games on my hacked wii because i only have gc-layout controllers for it and playing DKC1 with that was pain, so I ended up finishing it with a regular wiimote...now if only i could get a "classic controller" (horrible name btw)

Don't be afraid to get a little spicy with your art if you've always lowkey wanted to but have been holding back. Everything is upside down and on fire. Might as well say "fuck it, yolo" and start exploring your passions while you still can. The way the world is going its also an act of defiance.
Culdcept mentioned!!
Ohh so that's what that one post was about...
Oh wow, I had the exact same thing when i was studying there...I hope your situation will improve soon
I just read the whole thing and holy fuck, it's hard to even find words to talk about it. It's so much to process. Jesus

Jerry Lawson, the inventor of the video game cartridge.
This is Jerry Lawson. He invented the video game cartridge for the Fairchild Channel F system. Because of his invention, many consoles had cartridges and CD formats and would become the norm.
The Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, and many consoles wouldn't exist without him.

to change what I could. Had I known about them at the time, I could have just used a code but I learned multiple lessons the hard way there...Now I make sure my custom class has attributes to prevent that kind of situation. I'd say it's your call overall.
give up my first character like 30 hours in because one of the later main quest dungeons has an incredibly mean enemy placed in a chokepoint on the mandatory path. That enemy inflicts paralysis, which my character didn't resist, and I had no way to mitigate it, and it was too late to even backtrack
none of them are unique. So in that case the urge to do everything before the main quest isn't as impactful. Generally, the time limits are very generous for letting you do stuff on your own time, but they can be very deadly with a bit of bad luck and lack of save management. For example, I had to
It's part of it for sure since it encourages you to balance your time while still being reasonable and also increases world immersion, but it's fair to toggle them off as well. Side quests in DF are largely generic. There'll still be a ton of variety and progression but they can all be repeated and
With the codes you can do as much as you feel reasonable and say "okay that was good enough" and there'll be enough handcrafted dungeons or even other dungeons to go through that you're never really cheating yourself out of fun or a unique experience imo
The codes are mostly for sanity preservation in DF, since after a while you'll have seen all generic dungeon configurations due to the way it works. So you'll still be required to comb through very large dense 3D mazes and pay attention, but it gets less interesting by that point.
