π¨NEW EPISODE:
Cetta & Daniel of @maltamigrationarchive.org tell us about exposing:
β’ the Maltese government's refusal to save refugee lives
β’ how it ignores civilian rescuers
β’ pressurises commercial ships not to rescue
β’ and how it organises pushbacks with the Libyan coastguards.
An honour to present the Archive at Malta Refugee Council's event βProtection Begins at Seaβ with others!

Thanks @theecre.bsky.social for covering our Archive launch this week! π
As it happens to me that many found this poetic, I will share it with the rest of you. I presented this text in Malta two days ago at the launch of the Malta Migration Archive @maltamigrationarchive.org , held at the University of Malta. I had no fancy speech to give, so I left this behind.
"The Malta Migration Archive represents an unprecedented attempt to document and expose what organisers describe as state-sanctioned violence against some of the worldβs most vulnerable people."
Thank you Newsbook Malta for covering our event!

"As the documented pushbacks increased, data collected by the archive also shows that rescues of the boats in distress by the Armed Forces of Malta moved in the opposite direction."

Today we launch the Malta Migration Archive in Valletta. The Archive sheds light on border violence in Malta and documents state practices of non-assistance and pushbacks to Libya.
