Al Gore loudly booing a US Commerce Secretary at a bankersβ forum should be a Futurama joke instead of real life.
3 of the 6 sitting Lexington Council members not running again cited the role's pay - $41k - as at least reason to not seek reelection.
Here's a piece where I asked several electeds how they think the role's pay affects who gets to serve and how they can serve.

*sigh* everyone check your voter registration. Again.
#kyga25 Kentucky lawmakers may vote to allow unrestricted pollution of the sources of many drinking water supplies. @morganwatkins.lpm.org has the breakdown/map showing where, and how, people could be especially affected.

This includes multiple active federal courthouses, post offices, local congressional offices, and prosecutors offices. This is insanity.
Looks like Elon is planning to sell off the federal courthouse in Bowling Green. @wkuchuckclark.bsky.social @wkuherald.bsky.social

Chair Comer just threaten to have the House Sergeant of Arms forcibly remove me from the Oversight Committee for calling out Grifter-in-Chief Trump for corruption and making money off of the American people.

Here's a way-too-early great big list of everyone running, considering a run, not running for or maybe kinda flirting with the 2026 U.S. Senate race in Kentucky. www.kentucky.com/news/politic...
When federal, state or local governments cut access to public records, that isn't just a problem for reporters. It should offend any citizen who wants to know what's being done in their name with their money. ^JC
I am sincerely already tired of the 2026 primary season.
While Mitch's retirement marks a significant change in overall Kentucky politics, the ensuing dominoes could mark a massive change in the political makeup of Central Kentucky specifically. There hasn't been a true open race for CD6 since (by my math) 1998 when Ernie Fletcher won his first term.
So now Barr runs for Senate. That opens up CD6. We know Dotson (HD73) will likely run. Which other current electeds run from either party, and what legislative seats will then open up? Then who runs to fill those now open seats?
Republicans in the House and Senate have filed efforts to establish a state version of the Department of Government Efficiency and create a Make America Healthy Again Kentucky Task Force.

If the nine employees at the Cumberland District who received notice of probationary status are laid off, it may leave only two remaining employees to cover 182,694 acres from north of Morehead to Beattyville.

Interesting, I could see that as well.
I think part of this is that people arenβt going to those orgs actual websites, they only see whatβs posted on social media. Which is very much not everything thatβs being reported on for most news orgs. People *only* getting news from social media is part of the problem.

And let the games begin!
Barr running for Senate has a LOT of downballot repercussions. Who files for that Congressional seat? Are they currently in office and up for re-election in 2026? So then who runs for THOSE seats?
A lot is going to happen in the next few months.
Yes to raw milk, no to fluoride: Several GOP bills filed in Kentucky this legislative session #kyga25 have one thing in common: a shared skepticism of guidance from top U.S. health organizations and leading medical groups. From @sylviaruthg.lpm.org
