In order to fulfill his wish, Ceroba would have to finish the serum, then somehow find a boss monster that both isn't Kanako AND would consent to this presumably very illegal secret experiment. He kind of screwed her over.
I wish they took more time to explore the fallout of Chujin's death. The fandom sort of ignores Chujin's role in the whole thing imo.
He, even as an actual scientist, was already unqualified to be messing with souls. Then he leaves his ordinary wife with this impossible task to complete lmao
She's definitely my favorite character and I think her situation is a bit more complex than her just being dumb and caving instantly to Kanako's wishes, but unfortunately it's very rushed and presented in a really unflattering way lmao
Ceroba's plotline is def kinda muddied by the pacing. I believe I remember hearing that they wanted to break the reveal up and give it more room, but they already had the ending sequence programmed and had to settle for little tweaks. It sucks because the story kinda relies on you liking Ceroba.
Iirc the time gap between Chujin's death and Kanako falling down was around a year, and Ceroba was working on the project that whole time.
There's no solid ingame closure to Kanako. It's implied that she became the spoon-shaped amalgamation that tucks Frisk into bed, and dev commentary confirms it
