I write everything in the order that I initially think will be final for the first draft, but I add new scenes or rearrange things during revisions so the order may unexpectedly be flipped later.

In my Berylfire series, the third world war happened about twenty years ago. And there's a mage society, where most people had their memory wiped of it by the powers of that time. So there were no real lessons learned, and the protagonist has to watch as a new age of conflict begins.
