Oh my goodness!! This is so cool. Thanks so much for sharing!
Chicago is amazing, especially in summer π
The CEO from the Chicago Sun-Times called me to fact check my part in finding the AI Generated Summer Reading guide.
My takeaway: its was very real learning experience for more the just Sun-Times. And if we want local media, we need to support local media.

And now Iβm mad I spelled feel wrong but you get it
Yes! Fell free :)
Unfortunately I will not!
Kicking off my long weekend with this absolute gem, DISAPPOINT ME by Nicola Dinan. This one is for anyone who has ever worried theyβre getting left out of something theyβre not even sure they want a part of (in this case, heteronormativity). #booksky
Haha it is her book!! Or an AI interpretation if it. The last 5 on the list are the only real ones
Said some more stuff about AI, particularly that whole "hey we let it make up a bunch of fake books and then we published that list of fake books in the real world as part of a newspaper" thing. At the blog. Enjoy! Or don't! I'm not your boss.

Yay! Give em hell
Great one!
lol he was right there almost got it
π
Thanks very much!
When I shared a screen capture of the OP with friends, several of them asked me (reasonably!) if it was real. I love that Tina has also demonstrated the importance of fact-checking and the (sometimes literal) footwork that can be necessary to verify sources in the age of AI. bsky.app/profile/tbre...
Yes! Tbretc@gmail.com
Extra! Extra! Get your fake books! Maximum dystopia!

Hahaha ONE person asked if it was legit and I was like hold my beer π
Oh good grief. This is what happens when we devalue expertise. Journalists, Librarians, Booksellers, Writers, literally ANYONE WHO READS could have made a real list of real books that actually exist.
π«π«π«
ππ im sure they have regerts
Hey small correction- that photo is mine, and I was the one to first talk about this, not Rachel. Still, glad itβs been investigated
This is the OP of the debacle! Follow her!
Hey so while weβre here if you like real summer reading guides that arenβt AI generated, subscribe to my podcast Book Talk, etc! Our Summer Bonanza episode drops a week from today.

ππ well weβre both real
!??
We are looking into how this made it into print as we speak. It is not editorial content and was not created by, or approved by, the Sun-Times newsroom. We value your trust in our reporting and take this very seriously. More info will be provided soon.
Haha oh no worries Iβm just glad people are seeing it and are adequately concerned!

Summer Reading List for 2025 with various erroneous entries that look like AI hallucinations, as published in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
I'm afraid I've confirmed that The Philadelphia Inquirer ran the same "Heat Index" supplement that the Chicago Sun-Times did
