Teams are rethinking where their critical systems live. OpenZFS stands out in productionβ€”open source, proven at scale, no licensing trapsβ€”but expert support matters. Save up to 35% on Klara’s OpenZFS support through Feb 17, 2026. Get tuning and long-term support: na3.hubs.ly/y0hn9K0

Replicate VM datasets between Proxmox nodes using native ZFS tooling.

zfs send -c pool/vmdata@snap | zfs receive backup/vmdata

Compression reduces transfer time, while ZFS checksums ensure what arrives is exactly what you sent.

Fun fact: while many other languages have syntactic sugar, C is the only language with syntactic hydrochloric acid

It would be automatic, but the L2ARC generally only catches a fraction of what is being evicted from the ARC.

If your DDT is so large, a special vdev might be better (needs redundancy unlike L2ARC).

With fast setup you can limit the size of the DDT to prevent it being so big in the first place

Hope exam week wasn't as crazy as I remember it being when I was teaching. Let me know when would be a good time to connect re: ZFS.
