Replicate VM datasets between Proxmox nodes using native ZFS tooling.
zfs send -c pool/vmdata@snap | zfs receive backup/vmdata
Compression reduces transfer time, while ZFS checksums ensure what arrives is exactly what you sent.

Hi Anil,
Is this still a conversation you are interested in having?
Fun fact: while many other languages have syntactic sugar, C is the only language with syntactic hydrochloric acid
It would be automatic, but the L2ARC generally only catches a fraction of what is being evicted from the ARC.
If your DDT is so large, a special vdev might be better (needs redundancy unlike L2ARC).
With fast setup you can limit the size of the DDT to prevent it being so big in the first place

A few weeks ago I got to hang out with @lawrencesystems.com in person for a couple of days. Many great chats inspired a YouTube video where we talked more about the future of ZFS and NVMe: youtu.be/BjOkWTeZJDk?...

Hey Anil,
Hope exam week wasn't as crazy as I remember it being when I was teaching. Let me know when would be a good time to connect re: ZFS.
I even got to meet Xe in person a few weeks ago at @bsdcan.bsky.social. FreeBSD uses Anubis to protect our cgit, bugzilla, and the like, as they were getting bombarded.

It is the way git works, I am not sure what to tell you.
ZFS would be unaware of the inactive path, as it sits on top of GEOM
I am saying every commit to the upstream OpenZFS repo is replicated into the FreeBSD repo unchanged, with the original commit message (and author)
Damn autocorrect, that should say "Vendoring" process
