I never played it when it came out, but I have written an emulator that makes it easy to run on modern Windows/macOS/Linux systems: dreamm.aarongiles.com
While testing it, I jokingly called it "Star Wars: Outlook" because of all the message handling involved.
(PS. Huge fan of your GB series!)

Aaron Giles recently shipped v4.0 of his excellent LucasArts emulator, DREAMM.
You can download it here:

@danielalbu.bsky.social is premiering his fourth conversation with Aaron this Sunday at noon (PT), focused on whatβs new in v4.0:

It should but I'm not familiar with the process. There's a native Linux version that should work, or you can use the windows version in the compatibility layer.
TMBG on the cutting edge as always
Two years ago, I premiered my third conversation with Aaron Giles about DREAMM v3.0, which had just been released at the time.

Stay tuned for my fourth conversation with Aaron, premiering this Sunday at noon (PT), all about DREAMM v4.0...
Everybody check out Afterlife if you'd at least like some artificial justice to soothe you right now.

LucasArts Emulator DREAMM Adds Support For A Bunch Of Old Star Wars In "Major" Update.
Whoa, what's the 60 FPS cheat?
I'm amazed. For years, I've had so much trouble getting the PC version of Phantom Menace to work.
In 3 clicks via DREAMM by @aarongiles.com, I'm playing it on my Mac, complete with the 60 FPS cheat enabled.
Home run.
Thanks for noticing. π
Out of curiosity I decided to check what emulators the 30th Anniversary Edition uses since I've seen a lot of misinformation about it (no it doesn't use RetroArch π)
SNES: Mednafen (snes_faust)
GBC: sameboy
GBA: mGBA
Jaguar: BigPEmu
MS-DOS: DREAMM
PS1: Pancake

DREAMM CAN EVEN RUN THE JAPANESE VERSION, WHAT
My favorite thing about DREAMM is how it evokes the early days of emulation with personality oozing from the interface design.
Also, the intentionality in what it emulates -- primarily LucasArts stuff rather than just all DOS games -- acts as a really cool (and rare!) form of curation.
@aarongiles.com's work on the emulation side of DREAMM is stellar but can we take a minute appreciate how fun this front-end is?
Oh my god π€©
DREAMM has always been a treasure trove for fans of retro video games, but now it supports the legendary Star Wars edutainment titles that I'd lost all hope of ever playing on a modern PC!
(boot up Pit Droids and thank me later)
Aaron Giles is doing the Maker's work.
Only three? There are DOZENS of us! :)
There's something truly special about that era of gaming and the efforts put in to make the music sound good on the limited hardware available. π₯
Maybe??? Aw, you're killing me. π Thanks for helping test it out!
You're like the 3rd person to single out DroidWorks. Where did all you people come from? π
Thanks for testing them! I have huge respect for people who are willing to spend quality time with beta software and report issues. π
W00t, another DroidWorks fan? We should have a convention.
Now everyone can enjoy a game that pits seven-year-olds against both inclined planes and assassins (not paraphrasing).
Ha! Glad someone out there cares. I even added a last-minute frame limiter to help it behave on modern systems.
I have a Pi4 specifically for testing arm64 linux builds, and sometimes that scrappy lil guy surprises me with how well it handles the bigger games.
