From here, I don’t remember much but I do recall responding from a place of both empathy and fear.

Before you ask, yes I did take notes during our conversation but unfortunately I left my notebook in the dream. Classic David 🤦🏿

She said she I wasn’t doing a good job as her supervisor and tbh it cut deeper than it should. She said that as a comedian, actor, and writer, she’s not being challenged enough in her customer service role. She also mentioned that our customers are stupid and that the website sucked.

I had a dream, rather a nightmare this morning wherein I had my biweekly 1-1 with one of my direct-reports, comedian Rekha Shankar. It didn’t go well.

and it wasn’t just the cut either. The barber had an apprentice with him and narrated the entire cut to them, explaining how differently my hair and skin have to be treated compared to their other clients. Left me feeling very exposed and othered…which would have been “fine” if I left looking fine.

There’s nothing quite like a truly awful beard trim to start off the new year 🙃
