Side view of grill pan on stovetop with 14 small artichokes - half of them are marked by the grill, while the other half are newly placed on to the hot pan. Small whisps of steam and smoke can be seen hovering over the artichokes.

Grilling carciofini (small artichokes)…utterly delicious, while transporting me into the heart of spring!

I needed to use some potatoes, the wild garlic near me has emerged, and I spotted some Italian sweet peas at the market… A Sweet Pea and Wild Garlic Chowder was the result…

Bernie's new billionaire wealth tax would raise $4.4T from the super-rich over the next decade.

That's more than enough to reverse Trump's Medicaid cuts, raise teacher pay, make childcare affordable, and build millions of affordable homes.

And guess what? The super-rich will still be super rich.

Asparagus and strawberries are in my local supermarket. I’m ignoring them.

This week, I’m sharing why patience might be the most underrated skill in planning what to cook...and sharing what I’m actually cooking.

Post jog plate of spaghetti with vegan Bolognese - it accomplished everything: taste, energy, comfort…and a solid nap about 20 minutes later.

MΓΌsliblΓ€tter in Swiss-German or SalbeimΓ€use in German. Translation - mice leaves or sage mice…so named because they look like mice. These sage leaves are coated in beer batter and fried. Delicious as a snack, and simple to make a vegan variation.

LAB REPORT: The Umami Synergy Principle What I was getting wrong about umami β€” and how one principle changed the way I cook.

Umami doesn't just add flavor. Under the right conditions, it multiplies it. I'm still working out the full implications β€” but this principle has already changed how I cook everything.

The great cormorant, with gray breeding feathers on the head and neck, swallows the large pike whole...no doubt very satisfied and fully ready to breed.

If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.
