"what are your thoughts on social networking protocols?"
i play both sides so i can lose twice as much
systemd is also preferred, both because of familiarity and because i use some of what it has to offer in my current deployment
@kit i actually ran the main esmbot instance from alpine for a bit
it was not a fun time iirc
chimera seems interesting for server use but its rolling release nature scares me for the same reason why arch on servers scares me, and its package selection isn't that great (its libvips builds can't even handle gif files properly last i checked)
debian-based stuff is Fine but it has some of the same issues as rhel-based stuff in terms of packaging (i dislike both package build systems)
not going with alpine because stock musl performance sucks, people who use arch on servers scare me, and i'm mostly unfamiliar with other stuff
starting to wonder if i should stick with rhel-based distros on the new servers or if i should go for something else
listening to hardtrance music at 175bpm while looking at server prices and sobbing #yup #sotrue
@nelson the linux foundation has been more of a general "open source software" foundation than a purely linux-focused one for ages now
this repo (and its issues section), as well as this teardown, seem to indicate that the 4k60 pro mk2 is a rebranded Yuan SC710N1-L card
while looking at my own card (an hd60 s), i noticed that it used an Mstar MST3363CNK-170 chip for capture - which is also used by quite a few similar cards [โฆ]
wondering how many elgato capture cards are actually just rebranded yuan cards
Incredible! Check out this stunning leaked footage from Seagate's newly formed automotive division showcasing the rigorous testing process for their vehicles.
apparently i didn't know this specific turntable needed a preamp
hooked one up, sounds much better now

@sammypanda yes
@sammypanda i still feel quite iffy about fluxer, but parts of it seem intriguing; i just made an account since a friend circle i'm part of also decided to take a look
will i feel confident enough in it to port my software to it? we'll see
people have ported it unofficially to matrix and revolt/stoat in the past, and there's probably more ports that i'm unaware of
i'm not involved with these ports, nor do i necessarily endorse them, but if people want to make them to fill the gaps in areas i don't really care for i'm fine with that
probably worth noting that when i talk about releasing an official esmbot port for a chat platform, the "official" part is the big one there; esmbot is open source, and there shouldn't be too much stopping an unofficial port despite my thoughts on other platforms
go wild, just please give credit
@leo i think i did see those; for some assets it appears fine, but it seems like it could be a bit more complicated for others
just added a progress checklist to the readme, there's a lot missing atm but hopefully it should be possible to theme all of it (though there are some parts that may be harder, e.g. window buttons in wine and textboxes)
@kulupuSoweli this is true, there's lots of solid options for one-on-one communication
there isn't really anything as solid for communities/groups though
@orpach.neocities.org i have tried stuff like luna and those vista-style themes in wine and they seemed to work surprisingly well
screw it, decided to push https://codeberg.org/esm/breeze-msstyles
@sterophonick would probably require rebuilding the theme, the buttons/scrollbars and stuff are bitmaps with static colors
